    Hi Plantaholic!

Guess what! This morning I've been putting woodstain on the wood for the compost heap. As it was 2°C in the sun, I thought this was already close to 20 smiley - winkeye

Everything allright here! Cold but sunshine. After I did the woodstaining, I put my chair on the terrace, took my book and read a bit in the sun.
I have to admit I'm chilled to the bone now, but it was so nice to have some sunlight on my face (and a big red cap on my head) smiley - cool.
Don't know what we'll do this afternoon, maybe have a walk.
Is there a lot of snow at your place?
Enjoy your sunday! smiley - hug

    Hi Anneliesje
Snowing like mad here and sticking as well. I should have gone to my daughters this morning but I am not going to risk it. smiley - yikes
I cannot beleive you have been sitting outside in the sun and I also find it hard to beleive the red hot weather in Madeira a week ago. smiley - doh

Oh well nothing for it but to carry on with my cleaning up and perhaps do a bit more reading of my gardening books.I certainly will not be planting any of the shrubs I bought yesterday for a while yet.

What did you buy??? I know you have still a lot waiting to get into the ground!

Yesterday I put some Lily of the Valley in the ground and a black holyhock and as I read on Goldilocks thread it is now a good moment to plant garlic, I did that as well.

Really big sunshine outside, laundry is outside to dry (or freeze smiley - laugh ). My delphiniums are growing like hell and I have tulips poking through the ground everywhere.

Hope my OH will come home quickly so we can do something nice now the sun is out. Enjoy your gardening books!

I bought everything from the bargain shelf at the local GC apart from a climbing rose Pauls Himalayan Musk which was recommended to me for growing up one of the old apple trees.

My bargains inclded 2 clematis - Pixie and an evergreen one I cannot remember the name of it and it's too cold to go outside to see!!!!!!!! The evergreen one I shall plant against the pergola I don't think you've seen that and I haven't decided where the other one is going yet.

I also bought some dwarf conifers for the rockery which originally was completely covered in one variety of ground cover and I want to introduce some colour. My final purchase was yet another varigated holly to plant somewhere on one of the borders as part of a hedge.

I've been getting bargins too...Wilkin.....had some skimmia's 2' high reduced to £2.50, and a Jasmin nudiflorum £1.50, Morris (another 140 reasons why you should shop here) had Clematis for £1.79- normal price, got Wisley cream and a pink one -(its in polytunnel and I'm not putting snow gear on to go and see).
Lavender Hidcote 2 for a £1 each, nice big plants, took some cuttings whether they will root I don't know, but they needed trimming anyway. And a peony - Bowl of Beauty, and some iris siberica.
Oh & some pots, m'spouse was begining to get cross as we were supposed to be shopping for food, but luckily I spotted some beer on special offer, and that shut him up and he let me buy a couple more little packs of plants, to balance it out...he he hesmiley - biggrin

    Hi 8supermum
I think it's about time I visited the above store as I've heard others refer to some good buys recently. At my last place of work over in Blackpool I was quite near a Morrisons super store which was great but now I'm working nearer home it's a bit more difficult. But I shall be making the effort me thinks smiley - biggrin

    Hello everyone,
I agree about Wilkinsons, bought a 3' Pussy Willow - sorry, Salix! - for £7.99 - even our local market was more expensive at 10.99 for a little weedy thing.

Morrisons not bad here, though not a very big section in our store. OK for lavenders, primulas and they have small asorted trees for £1.79 upwards. I bought a small plum tree, remains to be seen how it does.
Our local market usually good for plants but even on there it pays to shop around.

I always think the best places to go are the local school fetes and bazaars who seem to always have good plants at cheap prices.

Does anyone ever go to Oxford - there used to be a church in the centre of the town (almost opposite Marks & Spencers) that used to sell a really good selection of plants outside. Is it still there?

    Oh well, back to work,
    Love Lambcat

PS No snow here, steady drizzle all day.
