Ho hum
Today I posted a message on de special guest board.
Wondering about the fact that in the caption there was an open invitation bij the Â鶹Éç to keep responding to messages already there and with the option for posting new queries (accross the entire scope of gardening), even though there was no set date for the return of the special guest or any other special guest....
I linked this open (cross topic) invitation to one of the arguments for the demise of "Over the Garden fence" te long gon chat section. OTGF being the unwanted focuspoint for questions that ought to have been posted on the 'topic' boards.... This trespassing of topics was one of the main reasons for it being uprooted. "To confusing for newcomers on the messageboards."
Now guess what, the special guest board has vanished in a puff of smoke....
Never seen such a promt response, which brings me back to the issue of the servers capacity ......
GET A BIGGER SERVER
please
Hi William
The Special Guest board was only ever temporary and was due to close today. I left it up for a week to allow people time to read the posts, but it's been archived and will be re-used next time we have a guest host.
And, whilst we're on the subject, the speed of my response to anything has nothing to do with the server - us hosts are faster than any machine!
Have a good weekend,
Flora x
Hi Flora,
Good to know that your service is faster than the servers......
Maybe next time it is an idea to phase out the closure by shutting down the option for posting new queries first and shutting down the option for answering next and deleting the whole thing even in a later stage (if this phasing is possible at all)
Since I'm no longer capable of receiving the Â鶹Éç I haven't posted on the new -special guest - messageboard. But I noticed there was a great inflow of fresh blood, which was good thing indeed. I suppose if some of the newbies have a peek now to see if more answers have been posted they might be a bit disappointed to see it's all gone.
Keep up the good work, enjoy your garden and keep prodding your superiors in the tummy for a bigger server.....
Happy Gardening...
William
William,
I've just learnt about h2g2 if you go to the announcements section on the home page they try to give an explanation about the server.
I tried to link you to it but my details were in it.
I hope this makes sense.
, in reply to message 4.

I'm totally confused about this h2g2 stuff and how you remove your history. Actually I agree with another poster about the lack of privacy involved in being able to see where other people have posted.
In the Dna hub bit I thought something about the swearing policy for the messageboards. As far as I can gather putting * in words like p*ss isn't acceptable. There was a ridiculously coy bit where the Â鶹Éç attempted to hint at what the disallowed word was whilst not actually saying it. And a word beginning with j which was disallowed and I have absolutely no idea what it is!

Rhoda, take a look at Gardening on TV, my message No66, thread 'Be There Hosts'. I don't know if this may helpful. As I said, having reservations about this dna system I unsubscribe my history on a daily basis.
Welcome to the new Gardening Board. If this is your first time, then make sure you check out the
