Hi Plocket,
Hope you are not fed up with all these clematis questions, I went to Wyevales after your tip off yesterday, and got a Wisley Cream, Freckles, Sieboldii and Belle of Woking, have'nt looked up which groups they are all in yet and it's not on the labels. Will it be ok to plant them now, they are all about 10 inches high, or should I wait until they are a bit bigger?
Thanks
LL x
Hi Lottie Lady! I'm giggling away! I must have this amazing ability but I wish I could market it - I waffle away about my passion and you (and others before you) start buying clems! I love it! Sorry - on to your questions... Personally I'd hold off for a while because we've another cold snap coming. Clear skys mean heavy frosts I think. Keep them somewhere bright and cool (a greenhouse or coldframe are ideal) and put them in when we've a warmer snap. I've put my two winter flowering clems in but with frosts due tonight I've put cloches over them. The three from Sheila Chapman are still in their pots but in the shelter of our front window.
-4 at ours tonight!
-4 here too if the Â鶹Éç are to be believed, and -3 according to Jeeves. It's going to be cold anyway!!!
Thank you Plocket
Clems in grow house all snug for the night, -2 here tonight or so they say.. our Wyevale had quite a choice of clem's and it was really hard to decide which ones to get, so stuck to the smaller ones in colours I have'nt already got. Freckles look's really nice, well they ALL do - what am I talking about!

He he he! You'll have as many as me soon Lottie Lady!!!
Ooohhh I have a long way to go yet P, that makes my grand total 10 plus a Montana to go on my arbour on the lottie, ( arbour = old bench with 3 pieces of trellis lashed to it..)

So, P has pink stilletoe (sp)wellies and LL has white (muslin?) wellies (call yourself a gardener!) - Lord steve doesn't wear wellies- I have "virtually" - well in a pic, seen his legs. I would imagine CC has green wellies and of course mine are encrusted with jewels and ermine lined. I wonder what wellies say about a person?
PA
Well you WOULD have posh wellies Princess Anabana!!!!....
( Lottie bow's,curtsey's, walks backwards and trips over flowing white dress landing in compost heap!)

Plenty of people approaching 40 - wonder what that feels like!!!

LP starts school full-time in September. It's pre-reception at the moment so only afternoons. It does cut the day up a bit for me but she loves it.
Sheila Chapman has a clematis nursery. I met her at GWL last year, bought two clems, and was so pleased with them that I've ordered from her since. Her plants are really lovely and healthy - the post is quite expensive - but worth it if you are buying a few plants. And she's lovely to chat to too!

Fibbing P- when we went to the virtual party you def mentioned pink high heels (cos you're so young!)
Can I be really stupid and ask what PML stands for -
Nearly mastered LOL - it seems it can mean 3 things - depending on context
Garden clogs eh? - William and Obelix spring to mind..........
Anyway - back to the clems... to be continued.
Regards - PA

Hi PA! I do own some green wellies, but have never worn them. Very warm strong breathable hiking type boots are my thing, though I also own some steel toe-cap jobs for when I'm on a building site pretending to vaguely understand what's going on. I might have to use them to give the Beeb server "a good kicking" if it doesn't improve its daytime manners.
Talking of building sites - I visited a very posh country hotel re-furb this week and a very nice Scottish gentleman said with a very serious face that the owner wanted a "willy warmer" in the porch! There were a few giggles, but it's not for me to question such things! It turned out - after a few discrete enquiries he was talking about a "wellie warmer" ....Whatever next?
PA - William wears clogs. I have seasonal wellies sized according to the number of pairs of socks needed for foot warmth ie none, one or two. More than two is too cold for gardening!
HI PA! He he he! Those stillettos were borrowed especially for the occasion - they went so well with my outfit! PML has been explained - LOL as far as I'm aware is Laugh out loud. And another, just in case, is ROTFL which is Rolling on the floor laughing. My garden clogs are navy blue rubber and are excellent to slip on and off easily. My heels get a bit soggy if the grass is long and dewy though - that's the only downside. Right - I'm off to check my babies (clems!).....
