Can't believe it! I've got a whole day off work and it's snowing outside which means, no gardening today
On saying that, my poor Hub is outside laying more blocks for THE WALL! Perhaps I should go out and help him ............
Any snow anywhere else?
Susie SNOWdrop x

Hi MZSunny! I live on the North East coast, not far from Whitby. No sunshine, just wintry clouds and snow showers. It hasn't laid as yet but if it gets any heavier I'm sure it will.
Have just taken the other half a cuppa out and he's still smiling!
Susie
Glad to hear you make him smile it keeps em goin don't you think. Mine likes to think I'm helpless without him which I prob would be, but hey, he would be lost without me too. After all I know he does the hard graft but he cannot do 10 jobs all at once like me.
Enjoy your day off s.s. I start my set of night shifts tom. yuk x

We are having the 3rd sunny day of the year here!
I actually got the sheets out blowing on the line yesterday!
I am finding it so hard to resist pruning things in the garden - the only thing I should do so early is my wisteria but I need to get the ladder out to do that!
Some of the tulips I put in late last year are pushing through. I left it so late there was virtually nothing left in the Garden Centres just a poor selection - then my OH phoned me from Amsterdam airport (he works quite a bit in Amsterdam) and surprise, surprise it was 'bulbs'r'us' there! He gave me some names I recognised and I did end up with lovely healthy bulbs of the varieties I wanted in the end.

Hi Rhoda, I've just looked out of the window again and it's like a blizzard out there! I desperately need to raise the browse line on my Himalayan birch but think I will leave it for today! When's the latest I can do it?
Susie
Hi Susie! Snowing? Good grief it's a glorious cloud free sunny day today! I had the same idea as Rhoda - the sheets are in the washing mashine ready to go out onto the roatary dryer when they are done!!! I did a bit of pottering in the front garden this morning but when LP is at school this afternoon I might nip out again.
BTW I don't know about helping your OH but stretching to providing him a cuppa wouldn't hurt!!!
I'm in the north west and it's cold but wall to wall blue.
BUT - spring could be on its way! I had a look at the 5 day forecast and for Monday it's 11C, min 8C and sunny. That's spring-like in my book. Can't wait.

Hi all! Have I been transported to another planet during the night! I can't believe that everywhere else seems to be glorious sunshine except moi! As I look out of my windows the sky is one huge block of dark grey wintery skies!
It's not good here in central Belgium either. Back to freezing after a 2 day warmer blip and we've got heavy sleet and snow showers with driving winds - coming from the north west so definitely your fault!

Sorry Obelixx
Still, I'm pleased to know I'm not the only one suffering with bad weather today!

I know somebody who's just come back from Germany and apparently it's been -29 in parts! How cold's that
I take it you've got off pretty lightly compared with other parts of Europe.
Hi Susie! I thought you were winding us all up, as its wall to wall sun here in shandy drinking land. Then I looked at the MetOffice website and it's true! The only places in the country where it is snowing is Grampian and the coast from Scarborough to Redcar.
See the following link (soon before it updates)

Thanks for the link CC. It looks a bit more promising for tomorrow which is just about right as I'll be at work!
We've been down to -10 at night for some time now and for a couple of weeks were not getting above freezing in the daytime. I gave up measuring after I found it was -6 at midday on th esunny sheltered side of the house.
We are in fact enjoying a brief sunny spell with blue sky for the last 10 minutes but I can see more heavy grey stuff coming this way so it won't last. I don't expect any real improvement till late March but would hope for one or two days when I can get out and at least hoe between the onions. Need the soil to thaw first though.
Hi Obelixx,
I was with the lucky ones that came back yesterday from Luxemburg! (today I heard on the radio the trucks could get over the hills anymore!)
Today I had to go to Maastricht, I also had quite a lot of snow on the way, and saw cars in the middle of the motorway, slipped!
Heard it will be cold and calm during the weekend.
One day it'll be better!
Have a nice evening
Anneliese (uit Aalst)
Sorry Suzi, have asked the sun to stop by you tomorrow!
LL x
I'd actually love some snow! Its been quite sunny here over the last two days ceratinly freezing with it though!
HI Annaliesje and Dan2
We had more snow this evening and it started to stick but has since melted with the temperature hovering on zero. This is going to make for very interesting driving conditions in the morning.
In the mean time, I have a few brave snowdrops flowering but the clematis cirrhosa and the mahonia have put themselves on hold with firmly closed buds and there's no sign of flowers on my viburnum bodnantense or the prunus cerasifuga which are both usually in bloom at this time of year.
I've just read a report that this January was colder than any for several years and also the driest with only a third of its usual rainfall. I don't like this global warming lark.

Obby - I know I've brashly edited what you said, but am confused? Or am I missing your humour?
No. It seems the effect of global warming in this neck of the woods is to make winters colder. Just you wait till the Greenland icecap melts so much it pushes the Gulf Stream down to where it won't warm up the UK any more. Then you'll see what I mean.
I understand where you're coming from now. BTW - Crikey you're posting late! Even later than me!
Yes. Had to send a late email and decided to check out the boards while the server was likely not to be overloaded.
