I'm new to the forum, and sorry to be dim - what is OTGF?
Thanks
Not dim - no reason why you should know. It stands for Over the Garden Fence - & is used on this board for threads which aren't strictly speaking on the subject of design inspiration but don't fit in one of the other boards - if you just want a chat with some other gardeners, for instance.
Thanks, makes perfect sense now

Which raises the question - Given it alienates all newcomers (I hadn't a clue what this potential Secret Seven Club was about) should we not ignore the pre-fix (or am I missing some reason from years ago that might have now gone away?)?
Could put 'Off Topic' in front of the subject....then it would be clear to everyone that it's not strictly garden related - and give no cause for any grumbles about it being off topic.
I was totally baffled by this myself! Being new to the site, I thought it may be some sort of private conversation!!!! Thanks for putting me straight!
Susie
Hi, I love dramatic plants, not in particular flowers! Sambucus 'Black Lace'. Fantastic foliage and the added benefit of striking pink flowers. Also lilies, huge fuchsia and Begonia Illumination! Oooh, can't wait until summer!!!

I think there used to be a separate Over the Garden Fence messageboard for general gardening chat, Captain - and when the Beeb in their wisdom () decided to cut down on boards & took it away they said people could continue to post chatty messages on this board if they prefixed them with OTGF.
Some of the other boards have opened a "Pub" thread just to chat on! I think it is called the Flying Feathers on one of the Nature Boards. Perhaps we should open one here but what would we call it - the Slug and Lettuce is a bit obvious!

Goodness - you didn't plough through the whole lot did you? You never know the hebe thread may yet rise from the ashes! The compost and urine thread on the Garden Clinic is another long runner although you may need a fairly strong stomach for it.
Thats it!!! Pub name - The Compost and Urine
