I have just watched South Today news and just had to let you know about a report on there.
One of the Hampshire boroughs is seriously thinking about freeze drying corpses with liquid nitrogen and turning them into dust, so saving the planet without burning or burying.
They then went to some councillor type who was trying to sell this idea when out of his mouth fell the words "can then be put into the ground as a compost". I stopped listening at this point as I couldn't hear for laughing.
Plocket, this has to be the ultimate in re-cycling and fairly blows away most of the other suggestions so far.
I think it's a marvellous idea and this is definately the way I want to go. I would however, like to get the garden into some sort of order first.
OMG I love it!!! I'm roaring with laughter here! But is freeze-drying more or less environmentally friendly than being cremated and scattered over your plot? I'm not sure I would want just any Tom, Dick or Harry scattered over my garden. But what really concerns me is how would they market it? I daren't even start thinking about it!!!!!
yeah, I heard this last week from my mother. I'll call her and see where she heard it.
She says the Discovery Channel.Says people have booked up and all...
I can think of a few people I'd like to book in!!!!!
If there are any biology boffs out there, would a freeze dried human put much of anything good into the soil? Or would the freeze drying deplete all the goodness?
I can just imagine after my death, my OH trying to tell people that I've been put on the compost heap! What a fantastic conversation stopper as they are all sitting round the BBQ!

Blood, Human and Bone?
(Hmmmm... seem to have bu**ered up the boxes again!!)
Hiya Skarloey,
I had similar problems in my first posts. I think if you hit enter a few times to distance your typed words from the quote, it helps. You must type your reply outside the brackets like so

ah worked better this time.1st time brackets were right way round and it was quoted....
Could I have Brad Pitt freeze dried for my garden - thanks.
RHoda
Think I'd have to order a couple of Johnny Depps to make the same volume as a Brad Pitt - or for really large garden you should be able to order a professional darts player...
I wonder, incidentally, if putting a freeze-dried Monty Don on your garden would do it more good than, say, using your average non-gardener?
Margi x
Hmmmmmm..Johnny Depp.....
Sounds as though you should have been at the party before last, Lottie Lady (or was it the one before that?) - Margi turned up with Johnny Depp & George Clooney .
I was thinking of an eco-friendly funeral - you know, cardboard box in the woods type of thing - but maybe I'll have to rethink!

MARGI!!!! you greedy girl!!!
To be fair, she did share them with the rest of us (though possibly only because Rosie threatened to sing if she didn't!).
Well I take back the greedy girl comment then ( sorry Margi it was very nice of you to share!)
Back to the thread subject, we have a green burial ground in a village very near here, woodland mostly and you can have a tree or whatever you want planted as a memorial, I would like to have my ashes- liquid nitrogen or otherwise!-mixed in with a big bucket of daffs, thrown out in to a drift and naturalised under some trees, be nice if a handful of Johhny Depp could be mixed in too ( if Margi has any to spare! )

Oh dear! I'm crying laughing here Lottie Lady!!! I can't help myself!
