Ok so what's flowering in your garden at the moment? Not a lot I can safely say, but one of my hellebores is opening it's first flower, I can just about see yellow in the buds of my hamamellis, and there are also buds on my Japanese Quince. My winter jasmine is going strong too and looks bright and cheerful out there. I can also see life in my containers of aquilegias - I love seeing those first tiny leaves starting off!

Hi Plocket. The only thing that is truly flowering is the Clematis cirrhosa Freckles which is by my front path so I can have a look inside the flowers when I'm walking past. Oh, & the pansies of course - the ones in the baskets are looking really good, but they were crammed in. My little china rose Hermosa which was planted earlier this year has still got quite a few flowers on it which is nice. A couple of primroses are out, less than previous years, I can see the catkins on my garrya elliptica & contorted hazel but of course they are not out as such. The viburnum tinus & sarcococca are showing signs of flowering soon. I have a lovely deep purple hellebore but had to move it last year so I suspect it may not flower this year - which reminds me I should see if there are any babies hiding in the ferns.

took a walk around the garden today it was 60F in my cool greenhouse, learnt that the Cacti i planted in my desert garden are not happy with the cold so will bring them in the warm house tomorrow, yet Succulants survive.
Further on around the Viburnum grandiflora is smelling just as sweet and the blossoms still on the branches, The cutting i took of the V grandiflora and Standarized is looking good with the top head in full bloom , which says a lot for my pruning.
The last of the Pelargoniums are hanging on in the G/House.
The papaver has grown 2inches with the warm weather and will surely flower early. as are the Hemerocallis, saw some Primula vulgaris about to emerge from the curled leaves.
Could pick a few stems of the Oxalis enneaphylla
(rosa) or daises from the back lawn.
I did give the front lawn a high cut this afternoon, hopefully it wil be OK for the Spring cut which appears to be nearer February than March as was the custom.

To finish and i am sure ive forgot others but the Ericas are doing very well , must have been the feeding i gave them the White one Erica.. Springwood is particularly showy.

I have fllowers on my Hebes, Pansies, and believe it or not I had rose buds until last week! There are a few purple flowers on a vine too, I can't remember it's name, violet something!

Hi Plocket - my clematis cirrhosa Wisley is flowering. The buds opened on Christmas Day. Clever plant. I also have a few roses on my Crocus White and the mahonia Charity and winter jasmine are flowering as well as the winter cherry and the viburnum Bodnantense Dawn. I'm just off to check on the daphne mezereum which I can't see from a window.

    Hi all,

Here's a picture I took yesterday morning of my winter flowering cherry Prunus subhirtella 'Autumnalis'. It's just starting now and will flower on and off until March.

Also coming into flower is the witch hazel 'hammamelis mollis' and some hellebores are appearing too. A couple of the viburnums are also out.

A Happy Christmas and New Year to all of you.

Hmm, well, I'm not sure what the frost last night killed, but until then I had buds on spring anemones & summer poppies, a final flower on clematis marie boisellot, and a completely confused cornus which had spring flowers at the same time as winter coloured stems. I definitely still have a primula in flower, as well as the winter jasmines and heathers - and one solitary early daffodil started flowering on December 23rd!

Had a little wander round my garden this afternoon and found something else in flower. My Winter Jasmine, I'm surprised because it was only aquired and planted earlier this year.
