Hi, I am hoping someone can help me with this.
A truck load of horse manure mixed with lots of straw was left on the allotment site with a note to say to help ourselves . I put three barrow loads on to a small part of my allotment which I now regret as I don't think I will be able to grow anything on it this year as it was not really well rotted enough.I am right in thinking this or does anyone know if I can grow something on it.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Jen
Just say 'Thank you, Thank you' and dig it in. Potatoes and beans will relish it.
You can stack the rest to rot down for the Autumn.
How fresh is it? Moisture content and smell are the best indicators. How does it smell?
Thanks for the info. I shall certainly put some on the compost heap to rot down for next year.
How fresh is it? Moisture content and smell are the best indicators. How does it smell? It smelt very quite strong when first delivered ,about three weeks ago now, so it was not well rotted down yet.
