During the wet weather my cat has learnt to slide the greenhouse door open to go in and tiddle in the nice dry crumbly soil. What should I do before I plant out this year, other than digging all the soil out and replacing it? I usually dig in a sack of MPC into the beds in there before planting, but will this be enough?
Either cover the soil or scatter holly leaves on it. Oh, and put a bolt on the door, or a hasp and nail to secure it.
I have now put a heavy trough in front of the door so she cannot get in, but I'm worried about the safety of using the soil this year. Once I've planted in there each year I always put lots of twigs all over and around the tomato plants to stop her using it while they are growing. I'm just wondering if I should remove all the smelly soil and start again?
I would, because I don't rate the smell of cat pee very highly; it will become obvious every time you water.
