Hi I'm pretty new to this gardening lark and can only grow things in containers. but I've just bought an electric propergator and very excited I am too! So is there any veg I can sow in it now or I am being a bit premature.?

    Thanks

The whole idea of a heated propagator is that you can be a smidge premature. You can get things off to an early start.

HOWEVER, you have to calculate just when is the weather going to allow you to transplant your babies out into the world. You don't want to plant them out too early and undo all your good works. But you don't want them to be too large and still in the propagator. Cheers, Tony.

In January, I sow some mixed lettuce/salad seeds in it for baby leaves. It's really too early but I just want to see something grow! A good tip I read: place a piece of white paper against the side not facing the window, it will reflect light and prevent so much bending over of the seedlings towards the window.
I have learnt that it one starts to early, you can germinate lots but then where to move them to when you want to use the propagator for the next lot? Too cold outside, and windowsill gets crowded!
Good luck and keep us posted.
