Brussel Sprouts

  Picked the Xmas sprouts this morning, always a little anxiety in case someone should have nobbled them in the night. Also my mother likes only 'button sprouts' small and firm, so when I picked from the variety 'Bosworth' which was laden with large meaty sprouts I knew I had fallen short. Fortunately I also grow 'Trafalgar' which is ideal for small tight sprouts and is the best variety if you just grow for Xmas dinner.
  
  There is much floklore as to who like greens and who doesn't, personally I think growing brassicas gives you immunity from their less welcome flavours. This article in the Telegraph add some genetics to the mix, claiming only 30% of us will welcome them.
