This is the first time that I have manage to grow some lovely, healthy courgette plants - in pots. All is well, but as soon as the flower has finished, it starts to go all wet and yukky. This then makes the tip of the fruit go rotten and that's the end of that..So I am now trying to remove the flowers as soon as they start to go over, and then return to the fruit the next day to clear off the brownish bits left.
Can I take the flowers off as soon as they have come out, the little courgettes are already there.
Will the fruit not get any bigger if I do this?
Am I doing something wrong, or is it this wet weather not drying off the flower?
Sounds like your female flowers aren't being pollinated properly. Fruit not properly pollinated will shrivel and rot.
I'll second that reply, go round with a bunny tail tickling the flowers and all will be well. (bunny tails available here)! Cheers, Tony.
