I am growing pumpkins for the first time and a squash plant outdoors for the first time. I have three pumpkins (had four but whilst trying to put straw underneath it I broke it off smiley - sadface ) they seem to be coming on okay although I have had lots of flowers for the pumpkins that have just dropped off prior to turning. My problem is the leaves, the lower down leaves appear to be turning yellow, have mould spots and curling and going brown. The newer leaves appear to be green and okay, does anyone know if it is okay for me to cut off the other leaves and what causes this and will it affect the fruits??? Lots of questions I know, but as before, am new to all this and any help would be appreciated. I can look it up on the internet I know, but prefer to have first hand advice from you knowledgeable lot smiley - smiley))))

Could be a variety of things but probably nothing to get too exited about. If the leaves are dead, it would be OK to cut them off.

If you mean the early leaves that appeared, they usually always succumb to disease and the like first. You can take them off. It will help prevent the disease spreading and won't hurt the fruit providing there are still plenty of healthy leaves. The roots are supporting the fruit. One of my pumpkin vines has lost 70% of its leaves to disease and the fruit is still developing nicely.
