    Cap'n sir!

You said you had all pests and diseases on your patch and novice that I am I need help. I have just pulled some carrots from the lottie (I know its late but they went in late and there are only about a dozen left)and I think I have some carrot fly lavae in a couple of them. They dont look like the picture in my G Hamilton book though, they look like tiny little white worms about 1cm long and about the width of dental floss(only comparison I could think of!) , is it carrot fly?

Excuse me for intruding lovely Lottie Lady but I would bet on them being carrot fly larvae. If there also seems to be a lot of fine fibrous roots and the foliage has a reddish bronze tinge, then it is. The root will be full of tiny tunnels and probably going rotten at this time of year. Unless you need the protein, discard in the dustbin.........smiley - erm
