I really enjoyed this weeks program and last weeks aswell. Indeed, I think it was the best one so far. I am enjoying it so far and I think that Diarmuid Gvain is showing a lot of dedication and enthusiasm with the students. Overall, its not my favourite show but I do think its good. Well Done Diarmuid and Beeb. Dan smiley - smiley

Sorry Dan - I was really looking forward to this programme but after three episodes I gave up. I could have been interesting, it should have been interesting, but ultimately it just wasn't interesting.

Oh no, oh no this happens all the time mistyping and pressing the wrong buttons. "I could have been interesting..." sadly although I missed out the t the sentiment is still probably true.

Hi Gang, I watch this as an interesting social aspect. I enjoyed last week's becasue I visited Villa D'Este when I went to Rome in July and so was looking forward to seeing it again. I think it showed DG's lack of planning though, as he had arranged this educational trip but the cameraman knew more about the gardening history of the place than he did! It is quite well known as well becasue Bernini did some of the fountains. At least he had others to teach in other areas.

This is why I find it interesting - to compare the different styles and his format and how the people develop as a result.

As for the rest of you associating it with drink --well, I am not surprised, it is Friday night after all and I remarked on the Pavlovian effect the GW theme can have on me! let's see what DG comes up with this week. hifi

Wow, well my answer would be nothing, but thanks for the link! Are you there, or is it something in your past? I like the idea of the mazes or labyrinths, I particularly like the 2nd.

How about last night's show then? In some ways I think that giving lots of projects for them to work on is an idea of what real life will be like doing designing and has made me think about workloads etc. However, I sometimes wonder if he forgets they are students and not profs with years of experience to manage. We know that with newely qualified they need more thinking time to sort stuff out as they do not have such a large range already in their heads. Still, next week is the last and we see the Tatton show - did anyone see it for real this summer? hifi

I think the "gardeners" are very diverse and interesting but I do feel that Diarmuid leaves them in the lurch a little too often. I know that they are learning to be independant designers etc. but it seems that very often they are looking around for some guidance and Diarmuid is behaving like a little wasp, just whizzing about all over the place. It is a good programme, however and I am sorry this week is the last.smiley - sadface

I quite agree with you Poppy, that is why I think it is interesting. we are able to develop independence in a skill after developing the skill and so this goes quite against many teaching methods. i think all students know how frustrating it is when you cannot find your tutor and you really need to as well. Also very interesting that you talk of them learning to be independent, as he keeps talking about trying to devlop teamwork - without the leader!! That is why I want to see what happens at the end. I hope it is not all bad for the students, they have had a rough schooling. hifi
