Burn

Burn

Burn say they "like great music and dislike sugary pop and un-original, expoitative, simple-minded trash!" Take a listen to their demo and give them some feedback on our message boards.

Q: What's the history of the band?
A: The band formed after a chance meeting between singer songwriter Robin Myles and guitarist James Aston at a local shop in the South Hams.

The pair embarked on writing and recording and decided to employ the bass talents of James' brother, Matthew Aston, drummer Mark Clay and rhythm guitarist Tim Ayers.

The five-piece gelled instantly and the bond is evident in the results of their musical efforts.

Q: And how did you decide on a name?
A: Burn - the name captures the essence of our music: Passionate, Powerful, and Impressive.

Burn

Q: Which three words best describe your music.
A: Original, creative, virtuosic.

Q: Tell us about the track you want to demo?
A: Strange Condition is a song about how strange it is that we as a band suddenly envisage musical ideas and how we feel compelled to see the idea through and not to forget it.

Q: What do you reckon to the current music scene?
A: Quite frustrated with the way a lot of 'popular' music sets the background to exploitative, tasteless, money-making schemes.

Q: What's been your most memorable gig?
A: The first gig we played as Burn was supporting Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet.

Your first gig together is always going to be memorable but to have it at such a high profile event made it even more so!

Q: If you could invite any three people to a dinner party - who would you choose?
A: Peter Sellers: He was so fascinating. A comic genius with so many personal troubles.

Freddie Mercury: An idol of the entire band. Such a great showman.

Sir George Martin: To discuss the finer points of sound production.

Q: The band is based in the South Hams but what are the highs and lows of living in Devon?
A: Robin, James, Matthew and Tim come from Modbury and Mark is from Ivybridge. We all take inspiration and influence from our beautiful surroundings.

Lows? We feel a bit detached from the bigger music scene in cities like London, Leeds and Bristol for example.

Q: Complete the sentence: "When we become famous....."
A: We will make it our goal to enrich the ever narrowing pallet of popular music.

Bring back stadium rock!
