Complaint
The programme included an item on the shortage of medical radioactive isotopes in the UK, in which a nuclear scientist and a Plaid Cymru MP called for work to begin on the Welsh government鈥檚 proposed laboratory at the Trawsfynydd nuclear plant.聽 A viewer complained the item was biased because it included no contribution from the anti-nuclear viewpoint.聽 The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the 麻豆社鈥檚 editorial standards of impartiality.
Outcome
The focus of this brief report was on a shortage of material used to diagnose and treat diseases such as cancer.聽 The ECU did not consider due impartiality required it to reflect the views of those concerned about the method of manufacturing the material or the suitability of the proposed site for doing so, which were peripheral to the subject-matter of the report.
