Complaint
The programme鈥檚 lead story was the news the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 11.1% in the 12 months to October 2022.聽 Al listener complained was inaccurate in giving the impression that an annual inflation rate could be extrapolated from the six-month inflation figure by doubling it.聽 The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the 麻豆社鈥檚 editorial standards of accuracy.
Outcome
The 麻豆社 agreed that it would have been inaccurate to suggest an annual figure could be extrapolated in that way, but did not agree that the programme gave the impression it could.
