Complaint
The programme included a storyline in which hospital staff sought to reassure a patient anxious about exposure to Covid by telling her they have been vaccinated.聽 A viewer complained this gave a misleading impression of the ongoing risk of exposure to Covid because vaccination did not prevent transmission of the virus to others.聽 The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the 麻豆社鈥檚 editorial standards of accuracy.
Outcome
The professor of virology cited by the complainant as saying vaccination did not eliminate the risk of transmission had also said that it did reduce it.聽 The ECU therefore saw no inaccuracy in giving the impression that the fact that the staff had been vaccinated offered the patient a measure of reassurance.
