Summary of complaint
We’ve received complaints from readers unhappy that the first set of profiles of party leaders published on our general election page did not include the leaders of the Greens and the SNP.
Our response
Over the course of four days we published on the news website profiles of the five leaders of all UK-wide parties, one for Wales, three for Scotland and six for Northern Ireland.
On the first day we published profiles of Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer. We signalled that more profiles were to come, noting:ÌýÌýÂ鶹Éç News will have a profile on each of the major party leaders running in the 2024 UK general election. Ìý
Ìý
Profiles for the leaders of Reform UK and Plaid Cymru were the next to be added. Some readers then contacted us in the belief this meantÌýother leaders (the Greens and the SNP) were not going to be included. We can assure you that this was never the case.
Ìý
Profiles of leaders of the Liberal Democrats, the Greens and the SNP were being prepared and were published the following day. ÌýAll seven profiles can be found on our general election pageÌýunder the heading Leader profiles.
Ìý
We have also written and published on the website individual profiles of other party leaders in Northern Ireland and Scotland.Ìý
Ìý
The profiles explore basic biographical details, background and each leaders’ route into politics or power. ÌýWe hope readers find them helpful.
