Hottest Record: Arcade Fire 'Month of May/ The Suburbs'

Zane Lowe | 12:17 UK time, Friday, 28 May 2010

arcade.jpgWow, what an incredibly exciting week for music. Big returns from Mark Ronson, Klaxons, Vampire Weekend, and tonight we got the sound and the story of new Arcade Fire songs, 'The Suburbs' and 'Month Of May'. Sounds like a diverse album. At least according to Win who also revealed that the band are currently in rehearsal. Enjoy.

What a week for new music! Ronson, Klaxons, and now Vampire Weekend are back with one of their best songs yet. The driving 'Jonathan Low' will be another feature on the
forthcoming Twilight Eclipse Soundtrack. Shaping up nice. AND we got new Arcade Fire. Both sides of the new vinyl. Listen again for all of it.

Hottest Record - The Klaxons - Flashover

Zane Lowe | 20:22 UK time, Tuesday, 25 May 2010

Klaxons.jpg

Big one this one. The return of Klaxons with a heavy, distorted, weird piece of perfect noise. It was always going to be their heaviest foot forward and reactions from our end so far are very strong. The Four Horsemen are back. Rejoice. Tomorrow, new Vampire Weekend.

Hottests Record: Mark Ronson and The Business Intl' - 'Bang Bang Bang'

Zane Lowe | 21:04 UK time, Monday, 24 May 2010

ronson.jpg
Mr ''Money Making'' Mark Ronson returns with an absolute heater called 'Bang Bang Bang'. Perfect summer hip-pop from ''Mr Grammy'' signaling a new album called 'Record Collection' and a new band called 'The Business Intl''. Haters are feeling cheated right now. He's done it again.

Hottest Record - Tinie Tempah - Frisky (Shy FX & Benny Page Mix)

Zane Lowe | 19:53 UK time, Thursday, 20 May 2010

tinie-tempah.jpg

Tinie Tempah's new single 'Frisky' gets a tidy DnB workout from Shy FX and Benny Page. No grand standing here, just respectful embellishment to an already great tune.

Zane Lowe | 21:10 UK time, Wednesday, 19 May 2010

skream.jpg

Hey everyone, It's studiosam here. I'm high jacking the blog tonight to tell you all how good this track is...

First heard this track last November during a FWD night down Fabric@Matter, Skream played it last track of the night and everyone literally froze to the spot and just listened...pretty special moment. Anyway, proud to now stamp it with the Hottest Record seal of approval... job done!

Hottest Record - Pendulum - Witchcraft

Zane Lowe | 20:06 UK time, Tuesday, 18 May 2010

Thumbnail image for pendulum.jpg

Yet another tune from the new Pendulum album 'Immersion' heads to the Hottest Record department. This has been the slowest, most carefully controlled album leak in the history of digital music. Totally worked though. Excitement at it's peak, album out May 24th.

Hottest Record - Muse: 'Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever)'

Zane Lowe | 20:30 UK time, Monday, 17 May 2010

muse.jpgHoly Bellamy! Flaming Wolstenholme! Etc ...Muse are back with 'Neutron Star Collision'. Yes, it's featured on the new 'Twilight' movie soundtrack but this song will mean far more to Muse fans than its association with Vampires. Won't hurt the bands already unstoppable ascent. I think they just got bigger.

Hottest Record - Underworld - Scribble

Zane Lowe | 20:59 UK time, Thursday, 13 May 2010

Underworld-081101-AP_113.jpg

Tonight's Hottest Record marks the return of Underworld. While strictly not absent from recording and live commitments, this feels like a proper return albeit an unexpected one. Artistically at least, as they give us brilliant uplifting collaboration with drum and bass producer High Contrast. Stream 'Scribble' and get ready for a summer full of anthems. Don't forget world exclusive first play of new Muse: 'Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever).

Hottest Record - Bombay Bicycle Club - Ivy & Gold

Zane Lowe | 21:11 UK time, Wednesday, 12 May 2010

Thumbnail image for BombayBicycleClub.jpg

Prone as I am for ''over enthusiasm'', I must go on a bit here. Bombay Bicycle Club have taken a turn and recorded a new
acoustic album that is exceptionally good. Serious now. Flawless. So ironic title (''Flaws'') aside, it is instant vintage. Hottest Record starts it all off.

Hottest Record - Mystery Jets - Dreaming Of Another World

Zane Lowe | 20:34 UK time, Tuesday, 11 May 2010

Thumbnail image for mystery-jets.jpg

Not much to talk about with Blaine from Mystery Jets, but the new single 'Dreaming in Another World' is the next hint of what we can expect from 'Serotonin' Good enough for us. Hottest Record.

Hottest Record - MIA - XXXO

Zane Lowe | 20:27 UK time, Tuesday, 11 May 2010

Thumbnail image for MIA.jpg

Soon as we heard 'Born Free', we knew it wouldn't be as cut and dried as this. M.I.A confounds expectation and defies boundary. She does it for a living. If you don't 'get' 'XXXO', you have to accept the possibility that this is what she expected. I, personally, think it's great.

Gorillaz Live At The Roundhouse

Zane Lowe | 20:46 UK time, Tuesday, 4 May 2010

Thumbnail image for gorillaz-wallpaper.jpg

Tonight we got the chance to get inside the world of the Plastic Beach. Progress chartered alongside creators Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett and followed up by 60 odd minutes of uninterrupted live highlights from last week's London Roundhouse shows which proved to be the triumphant beginning of a whole new era for Gorillaz. Once existing only in animated form, they are now a fully fledged touring band and we are all the better for it. Listen again and enjoy.
