Damn, Ibiza again? That really rolled around quick. Back out on the white isle once again with a box full of new heaters, but there will always be one that everyone has to play and this year, it will be Ducksauce. A new project from Armand Van Heldon and A Trak that takes its cue from the French disco movement of the late 90's early 2000's. Ridiculously infectious, its a bonafide Hottest Record.

Its been great to choose a bunch of brand new bands for this week's Hottest. Last night, Mumford And Sons and tonight we give the new Bombay Bicycle Club single, 'Magnet' a spin. This is Â鶹Éç Introducing fare from the Huw Stephens record box but the album, 'I Had The Blues...' is one of this years best from a brand new UK band. Listen to this and investigate further.

Yesterdays Reaction Record takes its rightful place in the Hottest Record dept. tonight. Mumford And Sons have been busy making a new album along with helping Laura Marling on her new album and now we get this new single, Little Lion Man which is a very live sounding record. A tone that flows thru the new album according to band member Marcus. We get a great text reaction for this each time we play it. You can hear why.

Here is the full stream of our most recent interview with Jay Z.
Thanks to Hov for being so gracious and cool. A smart guy who knows it but doesn't have to show it.
Here it is. After the big street single, D.O.A., Jay Z is back with the first proper single from 'Blueprint 3', the third installment of his iconic series of albums. Teaming up with his Roc alumni, Kanye West and Rihanna (correct spelling @calvinharris), it bumps along with purpose. Naturally, I am excited about the album which drops on September 14.

From tweet to heat in hours. Its started with a recommendation from Sam here at R1 and steam rolled from there. Brooklyn band White Rabbits sound very comfortable in this category. Like they have been making records this good for years. It's a great start for us. Check em out live this summer. Have a good weekend. z

Phew. Yes i did just start a blog entry with the term, 'phew'. But with good reason. The anticipation for this new Muse album is intense. And the band know it. They have had fans in a frenzy for the last week hunting the world over for separate USB parts of this Hottest Record 'USoE'. It has worked, making the build up for the first play last night huge. So we thought it should hold its rightful position as official HOT tonight. Watch this space.

What a show for us. Raps biggest superstar, Jay Z live in the studio for 45 minutes and a hottest record from one clubs biggest talents, Deadmau5. Big street track for him is now an official single with added vocals from Rob out of Pendulum. Understandably gives the song structure but doesn't dilute the potency of the original. Good.

One of the worlds most consistent rock bands deliver again. Pearl Jam are back with a brand new album, Backspace, and this Hottest Record, The Fixer. Eddie Vedder sounding relaxed and the band m\king it sound simple as always. In tonight's interview with Ed, I naively asked whether or not the band would be rehearsing for their up and coming UK shows. He laughed and told us that 'we know what we are doing'. True. True.

Beastie Boys featuiring Nas tonight. A rare collabo from the 3 MC's and a flavour of to expect from the new B Boys album 'Hot Sauce Committee Part 1'. This is a banger. I'm tired after a crazy week of good music. Enjoy the blog.

Better late than never. Me...for the interview not the new single. Jamie T is on top form at the minute working endlessly on new eps and songs for as yet unannounced projects while his second album, 'Kings And Queens' generates universal critical acclaim. This guy is super unique with an outlook that is part rapper part street poet and all uk. 'Chaka Demus' is a tune!

Huw here, in for Zane. Frank's love letter to not just touring on the road but to moving in general; keep moving and keep happy. I spoke to Frank tonight as he sat in an American diner while on the road with the Offspring. End of the year he tours the states with Gaslight Anthem. He's playing Camp Bestival and Leeds and Reading. He is an 'acoustic troubadour' and all the descriptions you hear about him are true. End of the day he's a very special singer songwriter and this is a brilliant song. First played on Mike Davies' Punk Show here on Â鶹Éç Radio 1, the album is out in September.

FF's have had a crazy journey since their earliest incarnation as a post hardcore band. Slowly but surely, the funk has set in and eventually they brought the balearic vibes into the studio and we got tunes like 'Paris' and 'Jump In The Pool' which are easily the fan favourites. Now we get an extension of that feeling with the new single, 'Kiss Of Life'. This will already be a massive tune in their festival set. Big samba rhythms and that now familiar 'hands in the air' message that people really like about this band. Strength to strength.

Now we know that Johnny Marr is officially a member of The Cribs, we are wondering what the new songs will sound like. Tonight's Hottest Record gave us a good idea. Johnny's catawauling guitar playing is there, but it works with what we already love about The Cribs. Great melodies and lyrics. It has been a great week of music for us. Return Of The Rock indeed.

Boogie time on the Hottest Records dept tonight. Deceptively popular worldwide, Jet tick every box in the rep with 'She's a Genius'. From the lone bass intro and identical riff to the 'My Sharona' rhythm and pretty standard 'she's sassy' style lyrics. No brainer. Which doesn't mean its bad. Its good in fact.

The first of four MASSIVE Hottest Records this week. All of em rock which is why we've dubbed the week Return Of The Rock. Arctic Monkeys have really delivered here. 'Crying Lightning' already a live fave on the Big Day Out Tour earlier this year. Josh Homme's production is there but not over bearing and it carries one of the best chorus's and lyrical performances the band have ever recorded. Big reaction too. Great.

Yesterday I walked into work with my headphones on and Jack Penate's album on it and my goddness it sounded great. This is going to be the next single from this bouncy, fun, confident and more than pleasurable album. Nuff said. Well done Jack.

Huw here in for Zane tonight - and the Hottest Record in the World comes from Florence and the Machine. We thought as the gigs in Glasto by her were so incredible, and before her debut album Lungs, which is just brilliant, comes out next week, we had to make this track from the album the HRITWT. It's my favourite from the album, it's sad and beautiful and joyous, much like the rest of the long player. Happy days ;)
