After Kingspan's announcement yesterday, here's a breakdown of the firms axing jobs in NE Wales this year:

  1. 28 - Kingspan, Greenfield - Nov
  2. 93 - First Milk, Wrexham - Nov
  3. 95 - Corus, Deeside - Nov
  4. 18 - Ancon Clark, Deeside - Nov
  5. 134 - David Mcleans - Oct
  6. 13 - Kronospan, Chirk - Oct
  7. 50 - JCB, Wrexham - Oct
  8. 27 - Hoya Lens, Wrexham - Sept
  9. 31 - Witters, Deeside
  10. 29 - moneysavingsupermarket - Aug
  11. 51 - Somerfield, Prestatyn - July
  12. 70 - Alcontrol, Hawarden - June
  13. 90 - Keating Group, Mold - June
  14. 163 - Flexsys, Wrexham - May
  15. 85 - Arquest, Greenfield - Jan

This is by no means an exhaustive count and it doesn't include employers reducing shift work like the 60 steelpackers at Corus and 121 workers at Witters, both on Deeside].

Plus, there are the other stories coming in to us which show how the current financial climate is affecting local life. Today we hear that plans to create a museum on the former RAF Sealand site have been held back.

Says Carl: "Plans in hand but slow moving due to the tender for the sale of West Camp being put back ref current financial crisis."

And Eddie told us: "The intended event due to take place at Carden Park to raise funds for the Tom Pryce Memorial Fund has sadly been cancelled/postponed. This decision has been taken in the light of the present credit crunch and looming lay-offs."
