Police run a mile to catch criminals

Warning to criminals: You'll have to be able to run a mile pretty quick if you want to get away from the police in North Wales.

The Chief Constable's latest weblog [] talks about officers' annual fitness test, including a one mile run.

Apparently, the North Wales force is the only one in the UK to run such a thing - if you pardon the pun. Richard Brunstrom set it up to ensure officers bucked the UK's rising trend in obesity levels.

By the way, the 50-something Chief is aiming for a sub 7 minute mile in his next fitness test. You wouldn't want him running after you...

The Olympics are finally here and we'll be following the men's coxless four competition with interest as one of the team, Tom James, is from Coedpoeth, near Wrexham. The pressure is on, as Tom explains in this , as Team GB's men's coxless four has delivered gold in the last two Olympics. Tom begins competing on August 9, according to the Olympic TV schedule.
