Thousands of people lined the banks of the River Mersey to watch the end of the Clipper 07-08 round-the-world yacht race on Saturday. Liverpool 08 skipper Ben Galloway, who hails from Wrexham, was the first off the Liverpool 08 boat, as the crew received a fantastic reception.

Talks on the future of the A494 through Flintshire will take place today. The meeting is aimed at updating members on the A494 situation after draft order plans to expand the dual carriageway from the River Dee at Queensferry to Ewloe were scrapped in March following a public inquiry.

- North Wales Police
Superintendent Barry Jones, the police commander in charge of the event, said: "40 vehicles took part and the event passed without incident. Minimum disruption was caused to members of the public and I am grateful for their patience and the cooperation of the demonstration organisers."
