Health officials under scrutiny

Nick - Web Team Nick - Web Team | 10:04 UK time, Wednesday, 26 September 2007

There's yet more bad press for the health service today following on from our previous blog, Give us the good news first. But this time it's health officials themselves coming in for it.

Prestatyn campaigners who opposed the closure of the town's community hospital will no doubt be pleased to hear that health minister Edwina Hart has ordered an independent investigation into whether NHS managers properly considered their views, according to .

And also (HCW) is coming under scrutiny - again ordered by the minister - for the way it makes decisions for commissioning specialist services - that is deciding which treatment to fund or not, says the Post's Welsh affairs correspondent .

This week has been reporting on the case of Tim Tellett-Davies, a leukaemia sufferer, who says HCW will not fund a bone marrow transplant because he is too ill.

Don't forget, we want to hear your stories about the NHS. Today, Mrs H has added experiences when she was giving birth - and they don't make for good reading.

So, do we have A health service to be proud of?
