Don't vandalise our history!

We've just started pulling together a section about the legacy left us here in North East Wales by Thomas Telford - it's the 250th anniversary of his birth this year.
We all know about his great works like Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the hopes to make it a World Heritage Site which will ensure its upkeep. But what our project has also done is to start to draw attention to other industrial developments - like Llangollen Canal & the tramways - and concern about their preservation too.
Derek writes: "The demolition of the electric tram shed at Johnstown recently, together with the ripping up of the tram lines going into it to make way for housing, speaks volumes about Wrexham Borough Council. The building was part of the transport heritage of Wrexham and should have been preserved and developed as a tourist attraction."
But where do you draw the line if you accept you can't afford to save everything? Any thoughts?
