The planning is over, the preparations are almost complete and the fun is about to start. For Monday is the opening day of the (), Europe's biggest youth festival which, this year, comes from Ruthin.

About 15,000 competitors and 100,000 supporters are ready to descend on the town for the week-long Welsh language event. And, according to the , organisers and other locals, including hotel owners and other businesses, have spent a long time preparing for this special event.

In all, the newspaper reports, about 1 million people will see the festival with television coverage on .

Â鶹Éç Wales' Welsh language website, bbc.co.uk/cymru will be at the festival. And even if you're not a Welsh speaker, you can soak up a flavour of the event by switching to the online translation service, Â鶹Éç Vocab.
