THE LL FILES
A quick bit of news from the Lib Dems in Llandrindod. Yes, I know I'm truly back in work when I write sentences like that on a quiet Saturday.
Nominations for the leadership of the Assembly group will open on October 14th with MIke German reinstated or ousted by the end of November. If there's an Autumn General Election you'll have to bite your nails and wait for those pamphlets and bar charts for just a bit longer. The whole process will be put back until December.
So Peter Black had better get back from holiday or at least get on the phone to Kirsty Williams and persuade her to go for it. Mike German might fancy staying in Italy for a few weeks longer.

My analysis of the situation is that the Liberals in Wales have six leaders. After a very bad election performance, they also still have just six AMs and at least eight of them want to replace their current Assembly leader.
You have this wrong Betsan, Nominations are open untill October 14th.
Not according to the Lib Dems I've spoken to - and they're the kind of Lib Dems who should know! They left Llandrindod under the clear impression that nominations open ON the 14th, remain open for 2 to 3 weeks and if it doesn't turn out to be no more than a beauty contest, the process will run until the end of November. But then maybe you're a Lib Dem who should know as well but who left under a different impression?
Apparently, you are right. In defence, I use the trustworthy institution of the Â鶹Éç Wales website for my info. Maybe you should tell them.
According to the timetable I have seen nominations open on Sunday 23 September and close on Sunday 14th October during our Welsh Conference. No doubt things will be clearer when the calling notice goes out.
Let's hope so ...
It does show how well organized the lib dems are that they can't even agin when to elect a new leader
No, you are right, they didnt adopt that timetable. Nominations open on 14th October.
