Good afternoon Cutlets!

We know you guys love making Cut fan stuff, whether it's pictures, videos or fansites, but something so extra special has just come to our attention that we thought we'd share with you on the blog! On (a blog run by Cut fans Keri, Carmaa, Louise and Sian) they posted a link to The Cut in book form! A fan called Carol has taken the time out to write a special novel version of The Cut and has uploaded the first eight chapters.

We're sure you'll agree, it's pretty amazing! So thanks Carol, we love it!

Do keep sending us all your Cut creations (thecut@bbc.co.uk), you never know, they may just end up in the Fan-tastic section of The Cut website.

It's not often you hear a song which describes a love-interest type person as being a "bad dog" and then insists that they "sit" and "stay" and "roll over", is it? Especially not one which then goes on to conclude that despite the fact that he's a good man and she's a good girl - or a pitbull and a dog, apparently - everything is going so wrong that the only solution is some wine for her and better behaviour from him.

The Cardigans have just such a song. I'm not sure what kind of punishment their singer has in mind for her boyfriend the dog, mind. Traditional dog punishments include a sharp slap with a rolled-up newspaper, a sending-to-bed, or rubbing his nose in his own mess.

In the context of a failing relationship, the sending to bed could be misinterpreted, and the newspaper slap is only going to aggravate matters. As for the mess, let's just not go there, OK?

Which just leaves training your other half to be a nicer person, involving treats - probably chocolate, people love chocolate - and a nice back-scratch as rewards.

It is fair to say you do not get this kind of sophisticated life advice from AC/DC...

, which is a bit spottier than usual thanks to some songs not being available (AC/DC) and some being a little too sweary for public consumption (BAD Gerard Way, IN YOUR BED!)Â鶹Éç Introducing)

It's Saturday! It's snowing! (Well, possibly, in some parts of the country). And to celebrate we have two things:

1. A snow joke.

Q: What did one snowman say to the other?
A: *sniffs* "hmmm… can you smell carrots?"

2. This week's episode of The Cut on iPlayer now!

What did you reckon of this week's episode? Are Marla and Elliott doing the right thing? And who saw that ending coming?? Well, I did. But that's only because I saw the episode on Friday, so that doesn't count.

OAO - have a great weekend! x

So last week we were talking about handclaps being the
cheapest musical instrument money can buy. But I've thought of a cheaper one. One which is just as devastatingly effective, and which you won't have to spend any time at all learning how to play. It's called silence.

Listen to 'Do You Mind' by the XX a second. Can you hear it? Its all around the music, like a cloud, or a halo. A great big whoosh of nothing, which the band are playing with just as much expertise as they are those guitars. Other bands would fill that space with more instruments. There would be percussive things - those shaky eggs you get in the music room at school, or something bongo-y - or orchestral things like violins or oboes. Diddy would probably use the quiet moments to check his microphone is working with a quick "yeah", or maybe a "yeah...yeah". That's how he rolls.

Each of these things is great in its own way - so long as Diddy doesn't go on and on - but they don't grab at the attention like silence does. It's like when you're a kid, and you lose a milk tooth, the tongue just can't stay away from the gap, even though it might never have been to that part of your mouth before. As sure as eggs is eggs, as soon as there's a void, there'll be someone looking into it.

And that's what the XX do so well, they're a lantern in a dark cavern, but they're the darkness around the lantern too.

, it's an emotional rollercoaster, deep in the heart of an emotional fairground. And Mika's lollipop? That's emotional too.

Anti-Bullying Week & The Cut

Comments

This week is National Anti-Bullying week where there will be lots of events up and down the country aimed at raising awareness of bullying and how we can beat bullying if we all take action together.

On the Cut we've touched on bullying issues with Taylor's storyline, and a lot of you have responded to her behaviour by commenting on how out of order she is. This week she's totally up to her old tricks, especially when it comes to Greg...

We thought this would be a good point to remind you that, if you're being bullied, or if anyone you know is, don't let the suffering continue; check out these websites for help and advice -

Jane Taylor - 'Blowing This Candle Out'
The Concretes - 'You Can't Hurry Love'

Cat Power - 'The Greatest'

Goldfrapp - 'Shiny and Warm'
Pop Levi - 'Sugar Assault Me Now'
The Eels - 'All the Beautiful Things'
Orange - 'Standing Still'
Shocking Blue - 'Send Me A Postcard'

. All shiny and sparkly and new.

We've all wanted to be in a band, right? It's kind of a universal thing. You start to get into music a bit, you find a few things you like a lot, and you wonder whether you could ever do it yourself. But then you start to worry, cos all the people you see on the TV have got expensive instruments, and talent, and stuff, and all you've got is a stick and a mug.

But, if you listen to one of the songs in this week's Cut playlist - namely 'No Fun' by the Stooges - you will soon see that you have one of the most effective and brilliant musical instruments known to human ears, stuck on the end of your arms.

That's right, I'm talking about your hands. And what they can be used for is clapping. Handclaps are guaranteed to turn a reasonable song into a sonic delight, because they grab at the attention with their meaty slap. In short, handclaps are cool.

Listen to that clapping on 'No Fun' for a second. 'No Fun' gets credit for inventing punk rock, what with all the loud guitars and the sneering from Iggy Pop and stuff, but what's the loudest noise in the whole song? That's right, the clapping. It is loud and it is slightly sarcastic. And if you can make the simple handclap sound like you're half taking the mickey, half destroying civilisation as we know it, you KNOW you're punk rock.

So next time you're entertaining the idea of becoming a rock star, why not give yourself a round of applause? It could be the first step towards something amazing.

Basically, you might have filled out a survey on the Cut site recently, we got our results back and we did pretty well. Yay!

This is such fantastic news; The Cut is still a tiny drop in a huge ocean and it may not always get the recognition we want it to, but this news means a lot to everyone who works here, including the cast and crew.

So thank you very much for being lovely and caring so much about The Cut. Keep your storyline, music and web suggestions coming in and, as always, we'll do our best to include them. After all, it's your drama.

Week 34 Music List

Dan Black - 'U + Me ='
Laura Marling - 'Blackberry Stone'
Blue Merle - 'If I Could'
Badly Drawn Boy - 'The Way Things Used To Be'
Diana Vickers - 'Me & You'
Katy Perry - 'If You Can Afford Me'
Daedelus - 'Fair Weather Friends (Instr)'
The Dead 60s - 'Riot Radio'

The Cardigans - '03.45 : No Sleep'
Gravenhurst - 'Hourglass (instr.)'
Eels - 'Eyes Down'
Mumford and Sons- 'Roll Away Your Stone'
Bat For Lashes - 'Trophy'

This week's featured artist - in that two of her songs appear in The Cut this week - is Diana Vickers, who is rather special for a lot of reasons. First of all there's that unmistakeable voice - part crying pixie, part sandpaper-on-glass - then there's the fact that she has managed to turn NOT winning the X Factor into a really helpful step on her way to releasing her own music to a wider audience.

But most unusual of all is the fact that she regularly, as part of her live experience, gets out a trumpet and starts puffing away. Really well too! And let's be honest, when was the last time you saw anything like that?

Do the Saturdays take a 32-bar oboe solo in their songs? They do not. Does Katy Perry whack a bassoon all over 'California Gurls'? Nope. And it's not just the girls. If you look at, well, 100% of current pop performers, the one thing you can say for sure is that none of them play instruments that you have to blow into, as part of their act. Not so much as a kazoo!

So, hats off to Diana for blowing her own trumpet. Let's hope this is the start of a new trend, and that this time next year, we'll see Cher Lloyd tootling away on a piccolo, while playing a bass drum with her foot.

Here's the . It's kinda trippy this week. Perfect for thoughtful moments.

Or even better: make your own collages and email them to thecut@bbc.co.uk

You can watch new episodes of the Cut online here every weekday at 5:10pm and this week things are set to get pretty dramatic - will Marla tell Elliott that she's pregnant? And will Taylor tell anyone that she kissed her teacher's husband?

Lastly, if you just can't get enough of the Radio One, then you need to check out their Access All Areas website this week where you can chat to the DJs live and find out what happens on the Chris Moyles tour.
