The Pan he is
Edward Larrikin is an interesting one. At the beginning he claims that he 鈥渨asn't writing music, I was just writing words and stuff鈥. That was until he bumped into a group of budding young musicians in his local pub and before he knew it he was fronting 2006鈥檚 latest indie upstarts .
High praise and comparisons to the likes of The Clash and The Pogues followed, as did debut album in September of that year. All was well in Larrikin land until the eve of their European release when they disappointed many by announcing a shock split.
Edward didn鈥檛 wait around long though, and a mere two months later he reappeared with current project The Pan I Am, and a debut gig which involved an arts showcase, poetry reading and Lithuanian film.
Now only five gigs into his new venture, he鈥檚 back impressing people again, including Steve Lamacq, who has heard enough to invite Ed and his Pan people to Austin for the 麻豆社 Introducing Showcase.
6 Music鈥檚 Julie Cullen catches up with him here for a few words on , royalty and Dolly Parton.
