At the weekend, Johanna Hall spotted a face she recognised having worked with in a L.A.B workshop. A girl that might well turn out to have the X Factor.
In the L.A.B (Learn At Â鶹Éç Scotland) we work with quite a lot of young people and there are some who are very talented but it's a welcome surprise to see them pop up somewhere unexpected making a splash. I was in Birmingham airport reading the newspaper when I saw Gamu's picture and read the rave reviews about .
The L.A.B is all about digital media workshops and getting folk to have a hands on go at things. The pupils at already knew they wanted to work on making a music video with one of their school bands 'Haven'. The band had a really punchy jazz sound and was fronted by Gamu Nhengu... a petite girl with a huge voice.

The day was spent singing... again and again and again... and taking lots of different shots to make the 3 minute video. The group were very professional but we had a real laugh, especially when it came to doing the 'funny walks' which the band were required to perform.
The L.A.B team wish you well in the competition, Gamu, we hope you go all the way... who knows, this might be one for me to tell my grandchildren about!

The fact that her daughter entered a TV competition should not in anyway be allowed to sway the decisions of the legal body responsible for determining the outcome of this case.
If this girl were allowed to stay now it would make a mockery of justice for all the others that have been deported in the past or the future, how would we explain it, well you failed because you cant sing ? or don’t look cute on TV or you don’t know Simon Cowell.
If Simon Cowell is allowed to use his money and influence to keep this family in the country in opposition to the due process we really will have sunk into a celebrity state. Maybe Mr Cowell could offer to sponsor them not only covering the benefits they have already had illegally but guarantee there will be no further cost to the hard hit British tax payer. In a week when the British public are being told they can look forward to substantial cuts in state benefits it is not appropriate to advertise to the world that this only means people born in the country.
I am very sorry but this must not be allowed to stand irrespective of how cute or talented the girl in question is - there can only be one law looks and talent should not be a factor in the type of law.

The police should be called in to remove anyone who has failed to prove they have a right to stay.
For Simon Cowell to say she should be allowed to stay, he should also be told it is none of his business (although i would put him in prison for enforcing xfactor and it's like on the population).
