Kevin Alderton

  • 10 Nov 06, 04:50 PM

In April 2006 Kevin Alderton set a speed-skiing record by covering the Flying Kilometre at Les Arcs at an average 100.94 mph. And this week he travels to the Netherlands to try and set another record.

These are impressive facts in themselves. But what makes Kevin’s story even more remarkable is that he is almost totally blind. He lost his sight after being attacked outside a nightclub in London.

is the charity which helps blind ex-servicemen and women.

Having struggled through the shows to date, I have at last given up. It is just like any other Â鶹Éç formula show. At least home truthes went to unexpected places even if it wasn't quite as goog as when John Peel was alive. This is awful.

Did I mis-hear it or did Kevin Alderton really say he covers one and a half kilometres in 11 seconds? That is about six miles per minute, or 360 mph.
