Lovely day - what?

Chris Evans | 14:47 UK time, Tuesday, 24 April 2012

Well blustery and all that, and a wee bit chillier than one would like, but we're out on the Epsom Downs and it feels good to be alive.

Vassos, his Dad, a mate of mine and me are taking part in The RAC Charity Golf Day. It's a marvellous turn out, with motor racing greats past and present. I bumped into Damon Hill in the car park - fresh from his F1 duties at the weekend.

We're at the half way hut, teas all round and off we go again.

See you on the radio. No doubt, still fresh faced and rosy cheeked. We're par as a team up to here, by the way.

Toodle pip.

Peace and Love.

Hi Chris: sounds like you are having a terrific day, if a tad chilly. Thanks for blogging while having your tea, you are a sweetheart! The show has been terrific this week - what a laugh about Vassos having to wear the same shirt three days in a row!

Hope everyone else is ok - busy day here, but just had to have a sneaky look to see what's happening. Thanks for the heads up, Sezza!

You're very lucky with the weather Chris as every day is different.

I hope you enjoyed the golf, you will no doubt know who the winner is by now but whichever way it goes it's the taking part that counts.

When you say you bumped into Damon Hill in the car park I hope you meant while walking and not driving. What a scoop that would be for the press 'Chris Evans drives his Ferrari into Damon Hill's (whatever he is driving these days)'

You should have given Mr Hill a slap!

Everybody associated with the Bahrain GP should hang their heads in shame.

    Evening each from soggy Fife.

Hope you won the golf Chris. I got a bit excited when I read about a Northern carfest, thought it might be Scotland. Bums.

Helloooooooo to you lot and welcome to the about-to-be wed BCR.

Thank you very much to whoever sent us the sun this afternoon - it was very welcome!!

Certainly been proper April weather - sunshine and showers although I think the emphasis is on the showers!

    Annie, hope you dried out!

MBD, there certainly was something about the Bahrain GP that left a nasty taste in the mouth!

Maddy, I thought the same about the car park bump!

Evening all - late one from me!
Arrived safe and sound in manchester after a sunny start in Bris, a wet and windy middle in Brum and a late sunset in manchester.

Have been comp upgraded to penthouse suite! two floors, two en-suites and 2 massive balcons!!! Do you know I do wish they would tell you before you arrive about this kind of thing then I could have planned a "do"!!! So languishing on my 2 huge sofas, wondering which of my 4 tele's to watch! There is also a great big deep bath and i so wish I liked having a bath - but I;m so short that I cant do the lying back and relaxing thing - I slip down and "go under"! However, will be enjoying my power shower in the morning.

So anyone need somewhere to crash tomorrow in manc give me a shout - plenty of room!

Chris sounds likes he's well busy with carfest north, I hope our norven buddies get lucky if they want to.

So I'll wish you all sweet dreams and goodnight and will catch you tomorrow eve.

    Morning all

Well, yesterday in Epsom may have been bright and sunny but this morning here in Cannockshire it's absolutely lashing it down (or "dow-en" as the locals say .....!). Just back from walking The Rascall Randall and he's all muddy and spiky - he just loves splish-splashing through muddy puddles. I need new wellies though as one of mine leaks, and by the way the weather's going, I will soon have trenchfoot.

Debs - jealous!! The suite sounds divine and you did make me smile with your sliding under description. I love a nice long hot bath: a bubble bar from that "smelly" shop men can't abide by, a glass of wine or two, a good book, perhaps some candles ..... bliss! If only there were more hours in the day!

Sezza - how's Gibbs? When can you take him out into the big wide world?

Today I'm off to Lichfield for a ladies-only networking meeting. It's my 2nd one with this group and last month's was really enjoyable. Then this afternoon there's some client work to be done and some articles to be written. D'ya know, I'm really enjoying this VA malarkey.

And as it's Wednesday, it's my favourite night of the (working) week - it's Apprentice night! I'm just hooked. Absolutely devour every minute of it, every Wednesday and then there's Dara on Â鶹Éç2 straight after with the poor rejected candidate, or "numpty" as they're also known!

Right, just enough time for a quick coffee and a slice of toast then it's time to glam up and go go go!

Have a lovely day, hopefully not too wet and soggy.

    Back later.

    Morning all

Can't say good morning! If you heard Chris' description of the weather this morning, ours is just the same!

I honestly can't remember when I have seen this much rain! My garden is going all squelchy - I think the ground is so hard the rain can't drain away so is just sitting in the grass!

Deevs, Gibbs is great! Although he doesn't like going out in the rain but seems to think that once he's been forced out, he might as well find the muddiest, wettest shrubs to rummage in!!! Eugh!!!

Debs, your penthouse suite sounds almost worth driving all the way to Manchester for!! Team-building/checking out Room Service tonight then? ;-)

Just a quickie on this fairly miserable day. Hope everyone is ok.

    Bids, You take care too!

Deevs, I noticed yesterday that my wellies have my maiden name written inside them!!!!!!!!!!! Don't know what they're made of but the stuff must be indestructible! I have visions of Tone Robinson's descendant (or Rory McGrath - digging up pub car-parks and drinking beer - do you think that idea took much selling!) digging up my wellies in 1000 years time adn they'll still be in one piece!

    Right, where's that ark-building guide!

I'm back and seem to have missed the deluge of water in this drought ridden country....

Right ole shock to the system when we got home last night going from beautiful blue skies qand 25 degrees to dark drizzly grey and wet 10 degrees. Oh well back to earn the pennies before we go again.

Havent got a hope in a handcart of catching up with everyone but I shall say Huzzah to those who are feeling on top of the world at the moment, sorry and hugs to those feeling like these large grey clouds we seem to be covered by and Beunos Adios to those who who are neither here nor there.

Back at the coal face but think I might have Friday off to catch up on the normal domestic duties which seem to have waited for me to return from my rest.

Would someone like to point out to JV that most of the country doesn't have black cabs or bus lanes and has never heard of the taxi company he is blatently advertising!! his show is rapidly turning into London Today!

  • Comment number 27.

    I'm back!

Networking was brill. There was a guest speaker who gave a 20 minute presentation on how to get the perfect 60 minute pitch for networking: what to include, how to lead into it, tone of speech, speed of speech, what to do with your hands ..... it was really helpful! I do always try to vary my 60 seconds but there's one group I go to where it's the same faces every fortnight and one lady says exactly the same thing e very single time. I'm seriously reconsidering whether it's worth continuing with that one as it's not really given me any ROI after 4 months of regular attendances. And it's not cheap ....!

Sezza - I heard a bit of JV when I was driving home at luchtime. Some of the views on Mr Brand were "interesting" to say the least, after all, we all have differing opinions of him. But for the life of me I cannot think what relevance his dress in Parliament had to do with the subject matter of drug addiction. It seems to me that Russell can't win: if he'd turned up all suited and booted in a shirt and tie the hacks would have cut him down in the press for not being true to himself, selling out for the day etc etc. He went dressed as he always dresses - yes, he has a very "unique" sense of "style" - and he gets shot down in flames for being himself. The media in this country really do need to be pulled back at times and let the public see the bigger picture and the issues that really matter, not what type of cowboy hat is being worn this year.

    Phew!

Maddy - good luck with the home improvements. I remember years ago it was a wet and windy day when double glazing was installed at my old house. Not nice at the time but very rewarding once fitted.

Debs - no chips for me but can I have a sausage in batter please. Ta xx

Ali - Boris Island? Is that some kind of Mayoral theme park? I am totally boggled by that one!

CB - welcome back. Missed ya, and glad you had a lovely time!

    Hellooooo Chrissie and Bids too.

Right, best I get on with some stuff, having been galivanting all morning. With a bit of luck my waterproof jacket will dry out just in time for Rascal Randall's late afternoon walk, when it can get all wet again ......

The animals went in two by two ....

    hello all

well its very wet and windy here - felt I needed a boat, not a car, to get to work this morning.

we have a guest from Turkey and this country is living up to its stereotypical image today, we keep telling him its not like this but he doesn't believe him.
We wanted to take him around Windsor castle (just the outside) after work before dinner but it may be too damp to do that -shame he won't get to see any of the lovely country here.

Welcome to the newbies and thank you for all the good wishes for Sat - we raised just under £300 so I am very pleased with that although my knees were in a great deal of pain sat night - I think I may have to stop doing any charity runs/ walks etc unless I can get them sorted out - wheres gingerbere when you need him?

Debs - very jealous about your suite - sounds fab!

Rosie - I saw the dates but have a brain like a sieve at the moment - I see you are in London over the weekend - how about a Friday or sat drink in town? If you message me on the other side with the dates and where in London you will be and we can sort something out?

Baggy, look after your knees - and, yes, where is Gingembre? Haven't seen him on here for ages.

Debs, your penthouse sounds fab, wish I was nearer.

Have had a 'housework' day today, then made tomato tarts with caramelised red onions, tomatoes, feta cheese and basil. Delivered one to daughter's and the other one is ready to be warmed up for my dinner.

Up at stupid o'clock tomorrow to drive to Cupar for work, so will be having an early night.

    Back in a bit. xxxxxx

I'm back from the back of beyond and an early finish as well, so result!

Deevs, Boris Island is where they plan to build London's third airport. Basically where I've just been, they will concrete over to make the airport, the runway will be out in the Thames somewhere! Never mind the hundreds of people who live out there!

    Sezza, Poor Mr Sezza...lol :) x

Baggy, Well done on the fund raising and someone as young as you shouldn't have trouble with their knees just yet xx That's for old folk like me ;)
