The day when Radio 2 is gonna shake itself up into a frenzy. It's gonna be like putting all our presenters and their programmes in a tombola, and seeing where they come out in the schedule.
Zoe Ball and myself are scheduled to hit the air at midday with Rock n' Roll Back The Years.
2Day, all of Radio 2 in one day Wednesday June 22nd.

Mystery guest, my mum?
Well now you know. The secrets of her hotpot stay in the pot, but I simply have to get them out of her sooner or later.
And as for her no-nonsense pastry in a flash, that's simply a must know for the sake of the rest of mankind.

Much food and friendship was had by the team yesterday. Four and a bit hours for lunch means we must like each other. And all present and correct on sparkling form this morning. The great bonus of staying in a hotel the night before a show is that, if you're quick, you can nip back there at 9.30 and grab a sneaky golden hour of snooze, which is exactly what I'm about to do now. The curtains closed and the mini bar one Mars Bar lighter - night night. 10.07 a.m.

Team lunch today. Everyone's noses to the grindstone 'till noon, then we eat, and then who knows what....
We haven't been out for as long as I can remember, but the guys have worked so hard and diligently over the last year and a half, it's about time they had the chance to kick back for a few hours.
We have a busy few months ahead so, let's make the most of today and then upwards and onwards.

It's 11.15 a.m. on Thursday morning, and I have just smoked nearly the whole of a rather substantial cigar. I am not proud of the fact, and the taste I am currently experiencing in my mouth is not one I am enjoying - even remotely. I have just filmed a tribute message to an old boss of mine and the cigar was a prop.
The joke wouldn't have worked as well unless the cigar was actually lit, and seeing as he was a stickler for funny being as funny as possible, it would have been inappropriate of me to not go the whole hog whilst thanking him for the help, friendship and advice he has afforded me in my career.
Just off to shower before Mrs E smells me, and begins to worry I may have begun to lose the plot (again)!

Know anyone who has only recently started listening to Radio 2? We're about to find out if we've persuaded any new ears over to the bright side, as it's RAJAR time again. Every three months we await our fate as the listening figures for UK radio are published, and tonight/tomorrow those for the first quarter of 2011 will be announced.

What a wonderful conciliatory phrase that is, especially to sit along a swish silver trophy. And silver is the new gold apparently. Oh alright ! We didn't win gold at last night's Sony Radio awards for Best Brekkie Show, but our warmest congrats to 5 Live who did - and to our other fellow nominees.
Hats, caps and helmets off also to Simon M for winning gold in his category and Jezza V for a brace of belters. In fact well done everyone, who has done radio well. Here's to tomorrow, the start of another race for the top radio spot, and one no doubt full of the thrills and spills of the friendly but ferociously competition that is national wireless broadcasting.

It's the Sonys tonight. Radio awards and all that. Moira's up for one, team's up for one, Simon's up for one, Jeremy's up for two. Let's bag the lot I say. What say you ? One things for sure, there may be a few heads pleading with me to turn the music down tomorrow - as the do goes on until 2 a.m, and sometimes various members of our zesty squad just can't help themselves when it comes to helping themselves. We shall see as all the drama unfolds.

Well Hugh Laurie didn't disappoint did he? As charming as ever and not changed a bit, even though he's now King of the world. Frighteningly clever and totally intense, almost distracted with his fascination of everything, every second of the day, another thoroughly enjoyable Friday guest for us all to get our teeth stuck into.
Currently sat in the park with Noah, very pleased at having unwrapped his biccie "all by myself". We're off to the car wash next, he likes it when "the man" sprays us with water. Then chips and beans at The One Show before Mummy picks up, and Daddy gets down to a bit more "talkie work."

...the great Enzo lll has a golf tournament named after him, The Enzo Trophy. We play for his ashes six times a year.
My wife and I take on my driver Marky Mark who teams up with our pal Matt, a beautiful swinger of the club who enjoyed impressive success as a junior national amateur champion.
Today is our first match of this year's series. The first day it has rained in a month. In fact I'm on the way to the course now, and it's pouring.
Still, it'll settle the tree pollen down so at least I'll be mucus free to talk to Hugh Laurie back on The Breakfast Show tomorrow.

Not as in forever, you understand, but very very quiet.
People are just not bothering to come and do whatever it is they normally do today. I don't blame them. Back at Radio HQ, I've just had a meeting with the big boss. A Big Idea is on the way, and from what he's told me it's all exciting and more.
New ideas keep you moving forward. I used to love it when my mum and dad changed the furniture around in the living room. Different perspectives are never a bad thing. All change - and if you end up staying the same, then nobody got hurt but it's definitely worth a look.
