I asked Russell Brand on the telly on Friday if he had a guru. To which, he replied he did - in fact he had two. Both sincere and genuine. I'm with him here, I think having a guru is no bad thing, and furthermore I don't think any of us should be backwards at coming forwards when we need to ask someone who might know a bit more than we do for help.
For this I have Ken (ZenKen) Bruce, the Zenmeister of Radio Twosville to turn to. I have often bowed down to his commensurate wisdom when experiencing doubt, paranoia and insecurity - basically every day of my life. Rumour has it, his last fortnight's break was largely to recharge his batteries in preparation for my continuing needy education.
On Monday I visited the brilliant Motorcycle Museum (and Tea Rooms) in The New Forest. The place is a shrine to two wheeled power from the mid-19th century to the present day. But also antique radios feature there - that work. And whose voice was radiating warmth and ennui across the peaceful showrooms of glistening chrome and paintwork? The Zenmeister. I told him as much when I saw him first thing today.
"So, finally, it's official, I'm a museum piece eh ?" he remarked quick as a flash. Never Ken, never but a national treasure and a fine colleague - oh yes.

Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day, I've got a beautiful feeling, Chocolate is coming our way.
The thing is - has Easter ever been so warm?
All Easter eggs must be deposited in the fridge both before and immediately after being dished out. We snuck in a quick Maltesers egg (other eggs are available) last night, but boy - we almost had to drink it. In fact we were so disappointed at our own lack of forethought, we had to chop a Mars Bar (other blah blah blah) up, that HAD been in the fridge and give ourselves a second decent choccie hit - to make up for our lacklustre first attempt.
Cold chocolate is the only chocolate - unless it's steaming in a cup on a cold winter's day, and you've just been swimming with the school.

Beautiful day - as announced this morning on t'show. Except for where it wasn't beautiful, of course. And let's face it, that's always gonna be the case.
This morning I was reliably informed - by perhaps a couple of million texts - that North East Scotland was cold and foggy with even the odd shower of rain. That's the thing with a national show, everything by definition has to be a bit more general. Generally.
Anyway, as of 1800 hrs in Berkshire we too now have clouds. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying - that's all. Barbies ahoy for the weekend. Er. . . I think

Great to be back in the hot seat today.
And it's light!
Light on the way to work for the first time this year. This run for us is a busy busy time. Royal Wedding, The Hay Festival and our Children In Need four day extravaganza. So leggings on, head down and off we go. Try to keep up now.

It's very simple. I intend to live till I'm ninety. So at 45 today, in
football terms, the first half has just ended. Time for a half time team
talk and then we take to the pitch to try to win the game.
My birthday so far is going just as I would have hoped.
My birthday alarm woke me up at half past four. I had a lovely birthday
trip around the M25 and then on to the M4/A4. I have a birthday visit to
the gym scheduled for ten o'clock, followed by a birthday appointment at
the dentist and then a birthday script meeting followed by rehearsals
for The One Show.
Yay !!!
Apologies - this blog should've been posted pre-show - however we all got rather caught up in the celebrations and secret surprises!

What a tip top boy that Saunders kid is. There really is not a bad bone in his body. I hope he has a great day and is having the warm, loving evening that he deserves with his family.
