A Golfing Hero...

Chris Evans | 12:22 UK time, Friday, 21 May 2010

Here it is, the long awaited picture of Brucie on the golf course:

golf.jpg

(left - right: Chris Hollins, David Howell, Bruce Forsyth, CLP)

Thanks for all the kind wishes with regards to my wife Tash and the unfortunate and unexpected predicament which befell her this week.

She really wasn't very well at all on Wednesday night but miraculously after some fast and clever work by those genius people in the hospital - you know the ones we can never figure out how to thank properly, she's now out of danger.

The incredible thing is that from being so poorly just a couple of days ago, she is well on the way to making a full recovery and other than the need for plenty of r 'n r over the next month or so she is 100 % back in the game.

But my goodness me doesn't the odd dose of morphine make for some racy conversations?

Lots of love dudes of the blog.

X.

And another for little Noah, who must be wonderin' where his mummy is as 'e creosotes the fence an' generally does all the Man stuff around the house.

Funny yous shoulda had that dream. I myself had a marvellous one, just as I dropped off at around 6am (woke around 5 realised I didn't need leap outa the scratcher an' hurtle off to the Dingle Peninsula or some such Commercial Hot-Spot, so flung back the curtains, opened the window, puffed up me pillows, read me book, dropped off again.. marvellous). Anyway, there I was, flyin' me bi-plane to Paris, wearin' a bright blue swimsuit that kept fallin' down, en route to a beauty pageant (???) and accompanied by a little fat ginger kid whom I was counsellin' for his obesity problem. Suddenly all the lights went on in the cockpit an' just as I was about to push the ejector seat button (which woulda bin' most attractive upon landin' in that swimsuit) I realised the GD was callin' me.. bugger. I've always wanted to jump outa plane. An' natch, the swimsuit woulda doubled up as a parachute. D'oh.

Any road. The Cream Tea debate. Now look. That's rubbish puttin' the jam on one side, cream on t'other an' sandwichin' 'em together. 'Ow are yous meant to get your gob round it? One attempt an' there's projectile cream all up your nose, down your cleavage an' on the dog's back, an' yous finish up wit a ricked neck an' lockjaw.

There's only one way to eat a scone wit jam an' cream. That's wit 2 large plates, the groutin' trowel an' whilst wearin' them paper overalls the police wear at crime scenes. Oh yes. An' keep your cap handy to swat the ruddy wasps.

A2A tonight, they reckon the writers have left the ending - sort of open. Well they would wouldn't they with a zillion folk tuning in - got to be another series - or a one off special or something.

    Ah tanks JG.

Just once I appear to have timed things right. Usually am tearin' around like a bucket a ferrets in the sunshine, then the minute I get one foot back in Blighty the ruddy sun goes in. Still. At least nobody's gettin' any nasty shocks.

Am rememberin' the time, during a heatwave, I was out in me garden in me bikini, rubber gloves an' wellies, clearing out the fishpond, as you do; when it suddenly struck me. The solution to a particularly tricky conundrum, concerning a bridal veil I'd been working on. Said veil was embroidered and slightly heavy, and I'd been wrestling with how best to anchor it upon the coiffed head of the bride without makin' 'er look like the aftermath a Pancake Tuesday on Tiswas. So. There I am, stood on the patio lookin' in the big mirror in the lounge, in the leopardy bikini an' wellies, fastenin' the said veil on to me head with a couple a flowery combs, when there's a knock knock behind me.

Standin' lookin' terrified at the gate was the young VW mechanic I'd forgotten I'd had to summon to collect me car, after me cat 'ad got its tail caught in the fan-belt an' whipped it off.

I've seldom seen a car mechanic move so fast.

    The veil worked, mind.

but Tash - you can post on the blog and I agree with Debs - you may feel fine after a few days but rest if you have been told to.

So pleased to hear that Tash is on the mend CLP

I know what you mean about the doctors and nurses, I never knew such dedicated, caring people existed until I needed them.

Also many hilarious moments happen in hospital. And tell Tash to watch out for those gowns open at the back!

    Hi there

Shopping done, tea drunk, Merlot about to be poured. Then somebody might decide what they want for dinner. I vote for Chinese myself - no cooking.......

As nobody has done so yet - I declare FNWC open. Can I get anybody anything while I'm up?

Chris, what a worry for you, I am so glad to hear Tash is now on the mend and will make a full recovery. Big hugs to all your family. xx

Had busy day shopping and starting to prepare things for BBQ on Sunday.
It's lovely son-in-laws birthday tomorrow and Mr CSN's on Monday, so all the family will be coming.

Gail, hope you have a wonderful holiday.

Ali, glad you had a good trip.

    Clodagh, your posts are brilliant.

JG, hope you enjoy your me time, I could do with some of that too.

Gill, I'm speechless! I don't know what to say, they are all so beautiful. What a lovely lady you are, can't thank you enough. xx

Oh dear, I can't possibly keep up anymore!

CLP, hope Tash is truly on the mend, and thanks for posting in a difficult time! Make sure she does as she is told!! xxx

Sorry, for the absence, Mr JG did another BBQ, and very nice it was too! Salmon soaked in "stuff" I missed what it was, done nicely in foil, and pasta, salad, and florida salad, like coleslaw, but brilliant! Hadn't seen it for years, but mentioned once that I liked it, and he found it!

AND, despite doing not-a-lot all week, he has excelled himself today! Dug the manky border out, tackled the demon stinging nettle, and cut the lawn!! As well as the shopping!!

    AND he emptied the dishwasher!!

He's in the good books now by far, but I think it might have been to do with him going off for the weekend on his brother's stag do!!

As long as he carries the washing basket down for me tomorrow before he leaves, he'll be OK with me!

Seza, MTD and Beez, It's not going well, why did he start this tonight.
When are we going to eat dinner, tomorrow morning! xx

  • Comment number 93.

No vino collapso tonight. Am still on yellow alert for baby.

I've given up on the ironing. If no baby appears overnight, I'm off to Newcastle tomorrow with man in the cupboard. He's off to see Mark Knopfler in Glasgow tonight so will be catching up with him tomorrow.

Hello all, I'm on the gin but can I still join in?

Been a rubbish week for me, but it's Friday and the weekend's bright (but not orange...).

JG, lovely to see that Mr JG's keeping you happy - that's lovely that he found the Florida salad for you.

CSN good luck with the BBQ situation, have you got something to nibble on in the meantime?
