I’m getting ready for an exciting week on tour with 麻豆社 Blast. Later this week, I will be leading various workshops to teach young people how to become DJ’s. Its all taking place at the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens.

I’m looking forward to teaching the young people. It shouldn’t be too hard as I think I’m a pretty good teacher and I’ve taught people to DJ before. But there is a catch!!. Do you remember the TV programme Challenge Anneka? Well I’ve been given a sort of challenge mission, where I not only have to teach kids to DJ but I also have to create a musical score in 4 days using turntables.

The kids will use this score for a play called “Proper Vexed” which will be performed on the final day to the public. I know this sounds like a rigorous task but I am determined to have the kids working those turntables like pros by the end of the week for the final performance. I can’t wait!

Panjabi Hit Squad will also be running their own workshop where you can learn to DJ, MC and make your own demo. In addition to these workshops we will also be involved in a Q&A session, so if there’s a humiliating question you’ve always wanted to ask myself and Dee and Rav then this is the perfect place to do it! Otherwise you could just text in to our shows and we’ll probably answer your questions anyway…no matter how dodgy they are ;)

    SO HOW DID IT GO......

As you may know for the past 4 days Asian Network have been teamed up with 麻豆社 Blast running workshops and activities for young people who want to learn to DJ, MC, Produce and Broadcast. The 4 day event finished yesterday and all I can say is I’m knackered but it was all worth it.

I must admit I was a bit nervous about teaching young kids because I remember what I was like when I was 15-16 and hoped the kids that signed up for my workshop wouldn't be anything like me when I was their age....not too long ago ;)

Luckily they weren't and I was really surprised at how keen and committed they were and for turning up everyday on time, sometimes before I even got there. The only thing I was disappointed about was the rain. There wasn't much we could do about the rain, after all we do live in England!

I must admit that over the past 4 days i've learnt a lot about myself and never realised I had so much patience. I’m looking forward to doing it all over again next year.

Check out the rest of thephotos in the gallery…

    Until next time.....
