by Yasmeen from Suffolk | in writing, fiction

Scene 1: Girl's Toilettes
3 middle class girls come in giggling and face audience as they do a series of mimes e.g. putting on make up, fixing ties, whispering to each other until a lone girl exits

Lilly: (priming herself, looking out to audience) So girls, what do you think about the new music teacher? Do you reckon he's married?

Denise: (lets out a snort followed by an infectious giggle) Lilly! I can't believe you would even think about that, though he is'

Lilly: Go on, see you think he's rather good looking. What do you think Collette? Collette!

Collette: Oh sorry, miles away but I do agree absolutely gorgeous

Lilly: Do you girls mind if I go after him?

Denise: That's not fair you had the last one! (Snidely) I think it's Collette's turn

Collette: What!

Lilly: I think your right Denise, go for him Collette (venomous) or you know what will happen

The story is about the struggles of a 16 year old girl, Collette. Collette is faced with peer pressure, stress of exams, boys, spots, sex and the need for her to grow up as she becomes 16. I believe it could unravel into a comedy but also show sides of more emotion and sadness in scenes which depict situations which can leave characters in a state of shock or/ and sadness. My inspiration is based around many things. One of these is my LAMDA devised exams, by writing my own pieces I found a passion for it. I have also performed one of my written pieces in front of a crowd of around 1000 people at my schools Speech Day. The response from the audience was phenomenal and from it boosted my passion and love for performing. My inspiration draws from life it self, the stories which I hear, the drunk parties which people have regretted. Also the inspiration and teachings from my LAMDA teacher and my drama teachers who influence and make my mind become creative. But also importantly my love for writing and performing. I was accepted into the National Youth Theatre and it has really pushed me even further. I' m so excited about my course and I really can't wait to further my learning in the dramatic arts.
