In Sickness And In Health

'Good Morning Serge' said Jamie as Sergeant Keane walked in the station. 'Good morning lad, any crimes reported in yet?' asked Keane, 'Not yet serge, I'll let you known when or if they is one!' replied Jamie. 'Okay, I'll be in my office' said Keane walking to his office. As soon as he got into his office, a man came to reception. 'Hello I'm Mr Larson, I would like to report a crime please' said a man at reception' 'Okay sir, If you would like to give PC Walker some details, he will investigate for you' said Jamie. 'Okay so, what seems to be the problem sir?' asked PC Alex Walker. 'Well, I would like to report an abandoned car, left on the moors just outside Hitler's Farm,' said Mr Larson. 'Okay thank-you very much sir, I will get onto it right away. Could I take your name, address and telephone number please?' asked Alex. 'Sure, Mr. Benjamin Larson, 17 Marshall Street, Whitby. And my telephone number is Whitby 791772,' said Mr. Larson. 'Okay thank-you sir, I will go and check out this car,' said Alex. 'Okay thanks officer' said Mr Larson walking through the door. Then Alex turned around and shouted out 'Jamie! Tell the sergeant I'm investigating a abandoned car outside Hitler's Farm will you?' he asked, 'Yes sure Steve, off you go!' replied Jamie.

Jamie then knocked on the Sergeant's Office door and walked in to catch the Sergeant staring at a photograph of the Sergeant himself and his daughter. 'Are you okay serge?' asked Jamie. 'Yeah fine thanks PC Cochran, how can I help?' asked Keane. 'Well'' he paused in study of why the Sergeant was crying but asked no questions. 'I thought I better let you know that Steve has gone to investigate an abandoned car outside Hitler's Farm,' continued Jamie. 'Are you sure you are okay serge?' asked Jamie. 'Well not really Jamie, I better tell someone. Georgia is in hospital, suffering from quite a serious disease. She might have to be referred to a special hospital, miles away in Birmingham,' said the sergeant. 'Birmingham!' shouted Jamie. 'Yes Jamie, and yes you've got it, if that does happen then I may have to transfer, it might even mean a demotion!' said Keane in an angry tone of voice. 'Right, anyway I'm sorry to hear that serge, I hope she gets better,' said Jamie. 'Thanks Jamie,' replied Keane. Then Jamie walked into the duty room as PC Walker walked into the Sergeant's Office, 'Serge, just to let you know that Alex is on his way back because he has noticed the driver of the car has come back!' 'Oh all right then' said the sergeant. 'Receptionist. If you wouldn't mind taking all calls for me, I won't be available for a while, I need to go to the hospital to see how my wife is doing,' said Keane. 'Yes serge!' shouted the receptionist as Keane walked out of the station.

At the hospital they were four doctors looking after the Sergeant's daughter 'Georgina' and they were all trying to cure the disease. 'Well Mr. Keane, it looks as if we may not be able to cure it, it's definitely cancer, she might die now but hopefully we will be able to keep her alive for a bit so we can take her to Birmingham where she will receive special treatment' said Dr. Makori. 'Okay, thank you doctor,' said Sergeant Keane. On the way out of the hospital, he bumped into Doctor Nathan Philips, his local village GP. 'Hi, how's Georgina today?' asked Nathan. 'Not good I'm afraid Nathan, the doctor's might consider taking her to Birmingham, if it will keep her alive, but it's only a last resort' said Keane. 'I'm really sorry to hear that, she's only 22, she deserves a longer life but' as they say the best go first,' said Nathan.

Then Sergeant Keane reported back to the station. 'Sir, there is a hostage situation at the at Pier's Farm. We have officer on there way their now' said the receptionist. 'Okay, tell them to do nothing until I get there, understood?' 'Yes serge' he replied as Keane ran out of the station and into his car. Then Keane drove there as fast as he could! When he finally arrived their officer's were at the gate. 'Okay guys, spread out. I'm going to go inside the house, where I think the hostage is being taken!' said Keane. He then walked into the house. 'Okay, two hostages, numbers go up by the minute. I hope there isn't anyone else out there!' said the Scottish, formally dressed, female crook. 'We're there okay, two squad cars, and many officers, armed!' said Keane. 'Well, tell them to stay down then, well unless you and your friend here want to get shot' the crook said. 'Okay everyone, go!' shouted the sergeant. 'Armed police, stay where you are!' shouted the Sergeant of the armed force as all the officers came in. 'Okay, you're nicked!' said Sergeant Keane.

Then they all reported back to the station. The entire officer's were sat down at their desks ready to do their reports on the case as the Sergeant walked in. 'Well done sergeant!' shouted Jamie. 'Okay people, I have an announcement'' said the Sergeant. 'Oh he was great, cool as you like,' said the hostage. 'I'm afraid to say people, as from today I have resigned from the force. A while ago I left my daughter, but I left her in a state, of which I will never forgive myself for. And I know that my first duty is to my daughter. But I am proud of you all as a team; you're good at what you do. And even though I will be in Birmingham, I will still respect the trust you have to this community. Good luck!' the sergeant said exiting the place.

He then went to the hospital to pick up his daughter. 'Do I have to go in an ambulance?' she asked. 'No, no doctor's have agreed to let me take you by car' said Keane. Then the two went into the car. 'Thanks Dad' said Georgina. Then they drove away to Birmingham. And all the police team were their waving them goodbye.

The next day Sergeant Astel came in, he was a strict old bag. But everyone got used to him as their new Sergeant. While Keane and his daughter were in Birmingham.
