Title: The shadows

by Kirsty from Essex | in writing, fiction

Blossom scattered on their graceful shapes, as they danced to the streams of gentle sunlight that fell down through the new spring leaves. When the Sun moves her blazing yellow head they too must move, in an ancient synchronised movement. One figure, in a timid gesture, reached out and grabbed the others hand. They continued to dance. From the wall to the pavement, from the pavement to the flower bed. They danced. The Sun came low and stretched her arms of sunlight, long and red. The faceless dancers stretch too. They too are now long like the Sun's streams of light. The sky darkens to a clean, deep blue. Stars begin to appear, the sparkling distant suns.
" 'til morning", the Sun sighs.
Sun bows her burning head of red and pink into the edges of the horizon. The figures fade as the Sun does. Night has swallowed the dancing figures into Her bleak darkness.
