Title: A story of guilt and regret

by Bushra | in writing, poetry

I took a life away,
I took one's pride away,
I brought upon regret to my life,
I brought upon fear to my life.

It's since then that I've taken my sound as a curse,
It's since then that I've regretted my very existence,
And it's since then that I've lived a life of a criminal.

I walk to hear my steps of disappointment,
I hide so that no one else listens,
I sleep to experience internal calamity,
I swallow for just a mere need,
And then I cry all night,
Just to imagine what really could have been.

I put myself through this day in, day out,
For I deserve this,
For perishing my very own blood.

I shall stay like this forever,
Until death comes and releases this guilt,
And then shall I rest in peace forever,
Or, at least 'til god wants me to.

The phrase I used, ""It's since then that I've lived a life of a criminal"" was used in one of my conversations. Out of this one phrase, I tried my best to create a poetic scene.
