Title: The last memoirs of Amelia Dawn
by Natalee from Cheshire | in writing, fiction
Silence.
Just silence.
No wind whistling through the trees or the birds that call out their harmonies. There's nothing here, just a barren landscape that I once called my home.
My name is Amelia Dawn and i'm 14 years old. My Mother died by giving birth to my youngest sister, Sienna, and I haven't heard from my oldest sister, Esme, ever since my father left for the war in our hometown Naples.
And here I am in the Devil's purgatory, just waiting here to waste what last few minutes I have of my once so called life.
So as I write my memoirs of my ending I will tell you how my life went horribly wrong.
May 25th 1780.
This was my earliest memory of happiness; prehaps it was my last?
My family went to the beach to see Auntie Mary, she was the most delightful person you could ever meet her warm, honey scent made you feel cheerful inside; a warmth of happiness that was never in my home.
This was before Sienna was born and Esme and I were playing on the pebbled beach, in the days before Esme vowed to never talk to me and before the day Mother had her 'strange dreams'
The salty sea air blew through my auburn hair, as the whistling of the wind was interrupted by excited giggles and squeals of auntie Mary's, Esme's and mine's laughter. I always loved the sea, the way that it was alive and free, swirling gracefully and dancing into the current. I looked into the ultramarine and white foam and, for the first time in my life, I smiled.
But the sad thing is, my smile had long gone, 10 years long gone in fact, because in that moment of pure joy came an act of pure death. A death that I will never forget in my near ending life.
