Title: The Convict

by Mel, Ben and Amy from Lancashire | in writing, fiction

Mike. A thief from a small village on the outskirts of London. A mutinous man was sentenced to death for conspiring against the Queen's country, his friends and his family. The scar on his face was a treacherous trademark of his sins.
He ran and the jewels followed. The sound of the screaming sirens, screeched behind him, sweat pouring down his face. While Havisham waited intensely at the altar. As he ran it seemed as if the trees were barking while his heart's racing. He started to slow down because his feet were as useless as Liquid Jelly.
He came to a road where he could only choose between marriage or Prison, but he was too late to decide, the police subdued him like an animal hunting its prey. He just followed what the police explained knowing he left his only wife at the altar, it didn't upset him, actually, he felt quite happy that it happened . He thought that maybe this was the better option
Back at the altar, awaiting anxiously was Havisham, praying he would return. Thoughts running wildly through Havisham's head. A cloud of misery sprang over Havisham. She knew he would not return.
He was taken to a prison ship, where he was taken to a cell. He met a man called Magwitch, who together hatched what seemed a foolproof plan.... an escape. After a failed attempt to escape, their trip to Australia would be his last, he was shot by a musket and his skin was penetrated by its bayonet, he awaited the electric chair.
He saw the sights of summer, he felt the wind upon his brow. The young girls in the city parks, how precious were they now? The soaring of the swallow, the beauty of the swan, the music of the turning earth so soon would it be gone...
