Title: I Don't Know How I Did It

by Olivia from East Sussex | in writing, fiction

I don't know how I did it. . .I just, did! The knife, it was just lying there. I just, I just. . .I mean. . .I couldn't help myself. It was so tempting. Seeing the cold, silver blade glinting in the moonlight made it harder for me to resist. The urge was lingering in my skull for too long. And I did it. I finally did it. I wrapped my fingers around the white, ivory handle. Creeping upstairs silently, taking slow, silent steps. Sweat dripping down my forehead. Opening their door was the hardest part. It was always creaky. But thank god it didn't creak today. I tiptoed over to their bed. This will get them back for the pressure they caused me. I dug the knife deep into their necks. His first, then hers. Twisting it left and right, causing them as much pain as I could. Cleverly stabbing their voice boxes so they couldn't scream for help and wake the little ones next door. When he opened his eyes, the look he gave me was almost heartbreaking. But why should I care? He had caused me just as much pain. So had she.

I pulled the knife out of her neck. Putting it into my pocket, I ran downstairs and grabbed his wallet. 200 quid. That should keep me going for a few weeks. Pulling open the front door, I slipped out into the night. The cold wind made my bones shiver.

But at least I had finally done it.
