Title: Pain

by Jen from London | in writing, poetry

I am the pain in your arm
I am death and decay
The smoke in your lungs
I am the blood in your veins
I am the cold in your heart
I am your tears and your spit
The whole entire world
I am you, I am it
I am your sweat from his touch
I am your gasps of breath
I am the earth and the moon and the sun
I am still there when nothing's left

This poem isn't really about who you are, its about power. Its a warning from the narrator, saying that they're powerful and strong. The poem could also be interpreted to be about guilt because no matter where you go - it won't go away. I used ""I am"" rather than ""I'm"" because it's longer and has stronger sounds. The short sentences show fear as its like the brain flickering from one object to another which shows panic. The rhyme is consistant so could represent the constant awareness.
