How to enter
Using the as inspiration, design your own fashion collection to enter our competition. Winning designers will win fashion masterclasses from industry pros to help them create their collection for the catwalk during London Fashion Week.
Either as an individual or in groups of up to 6 have a look at the "Ceramics", "Japanese" or "Medieval and Renaissance" collections from the . Pick one collection to use as inspiration to create your collection design. Your entry must consist of:
- a moodboard: what's this?
- a concept statement (maximum of 200 words)
- a capsule collection of 3 outfit designs (you can design up to 6 if you would like)
Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
- Originality and creative flair;
- How you use the V&A collection to inspire the designs;
- How well your designs work together as a collection; and
- The creative thought process in your explanation (concept statement).
Upload your moodboard, statement and designs to the Â鶹Éç Blast Website tagged "your_label_comp" or post your entry to Blast Your Label, MC3D3 Media Centre, Wood Lane, London W12 7TQ to arrive before the deadline (Monday 14th June 2010) or email your entry to blast@bbc.co.uk
A judging panel including fashion experts will select the up to 10 winning collections.
The Prize
The designers of the winning entries will win masterclasses with fashion industry professionals and exclusive mentoring to create their collections for catwalk showcase during London Fashion Week.

Your Label 2010 Competition Rules
- The Â鶹Éç's code of conduct for competitions applies to this competition. You can read more about it here: Â鶹Éç Competitions Policy..
- Entry is open to all UK residents (including Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) who are aged between 13 and 19 at the closing date of the competition, except Â鶹Éç employees or those of its affiliates and their close relatives or any person connected to the competition. . Proof of age, identity and eligibility may be requested
- If the entrant is under 18, their parent or guardian must consent to the entry and confirm the entrant's compliance with these terms and conditions. Proof of this consent may be requested.
- Entrants must design a new fashion label inspired by one of the following V&A collections:

Entries must consist of:
- A mood board
- A concept statement of no more than 200 words
- A capsule collection of 3 outfit designs

Entries must also include the entrants:
- Name
- Age
- Address
- Contact telephone number
- Email address
- Where entering as a group, the name and age of every member of the group must be given along with the address, contact telephone number and email address of a nominated main contact. The Â鶹Éç will only ever use personal details for the purposes of administering this competition. Please see the Â鶹Éç's Privacy Policy: Â鶹Éç Privacy Policy.
- The competition opens at midday on 6th April. Entries received before this date will not be considered.

Entries must be submitted either:
- By post to the following address: "Your Label Competition" Â鶹Éç Blast Online, MC3 D3, 201 Wood Lane. London. W12 7TS
- By email to the following email address: blast@bbc.co.uk with the subject "Your Label" in the subject bar.
- Upload to the Blast website tagged "your_label_comp" and also tagged with your team name.
- Images submitted electronically as part of entry must be formatted as *.jpg;*.jpeg;*.png;*.tiff and no larger than 20mb.
- Closing time for entries is 1700 on Monday 14 June 2010. Submissions received after this time will not be considered. Entries will not be returned so please remember to keep a copy.
- Entrants can enter individually or as part of a group. If entering as a group, all entrants must meet the entry requirements and have evidence of any consent required. Only one entry per person is permitted including any group entries. If you submit more than one entry, only the first entry received will be considered.
- All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The Â鶹Éç accepts no liability if entrants ignore these rules and entrants agree to fully indemnify the Â鶹Éç against any claims by any third party arising from any breach of these rules.
- Entries must not contain defamatory, obscene, offensive or any other unsuitable material. Entries must be suitable to be broadcast by the Â鶹Éç to audiences of all ages.
- Entrants retain the copyright in their entries but grant to the Â鶹Éç a non-exclusive licence to broadcast their entry across all media, as well as use it on any online platforms.
- Entrants permit the Â鶹Éç to edit or change entries in any way it may in its sole discretion consider necessary for the purposes of use in the competition and the uses set out in clause 14 above.
- By entering the competition, entrants or their parent or guardian warrant that they have legal capacity to enter the competition and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
- Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
- Originality and creative flair;
- How the V&A collection is used to inspire the designs;
- How well the designs work together as a collection; and
- The creative thought process in the explanation.
- Entries will be judged through the following process:
- The judging panel will consist of a representative from the Â鶹Éç, a representative from the V&A and at least one other industry expert.
- The judging panel will select up to 10 winning entries by evaluating all entries against the selection criteria outlined above.
- For all selected entries, the person named as the main contact on the entry form will be contacted by the Â鶹Éç no later than Friday 25 June 2010. Where an entrant is under 18, the Â鶹Éç will require proof of their parent or guardian's consent to their entry and confirmation of the entrant's compliance with these terms and conditions. If proof of this cannot be provided the Â鶹Éç reserves the right to disqualify the entry and offer the prize to the next best entry. If the winner cannot be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made to do so, the Â鶹Éç reserves the right to offer the prize to the next best entry.
- Winning groups and/or individuals will be offered face-to face tutorials (at least one session) to help them on the creation of their garments. Winning groups and individuals will showcase their work during London Fashion Week. Winners will be invited to a Fashion Festival event at the V&A Museum on Saturday 2 October 2010. The Â鶹Éç will provide reasonable travel and accommodation to winners and for one chaperone per winning group or individual entry where winners are under 16. The prize is as stated and cannot be deferred or transferred. There will be no cash alternatives.
- The names of each entrant whose entry is broadcast or used on-line will be made public. Entrants must agree to take part in any post-competition publicity if required.
- The Â鶹Éç's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Unsuccessful entrants will not be contacted.
- The Â鶹Éç reserves the right to disqualify any entry which breaches any of these Terms and Conditions or to withhold or withdraw a prize if in its opinion entries do not reach the required standard.
- The Â鶹Éç reserves the right to cancel this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside its control. In this event, a notice will be posted on the Blast website.
- The Â鶹Éç reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any stage, including changing or substituting the prize. In this event, a notice will be posted on the Blast website.
- The Â鶹Éç, its sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any server, Internet access, system, the post or otherwise which may result in any entry being lost or not properly registered or recorded. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.
- These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

yeah i emailed mine off a few days ago, i hope it got through but it shows that its sent in my outbox so hopefully its all good, i reckon it would be pretty difficult for them to send everyone emails to say it was received, by the sounds of things they had a lotta entries!!
do we get a notification email of our entries were unsuccessful though??
i dont wanna just be left hanging for ages wondering whether i was successful or not!!!
And do you think it matters too much if we do enter just as individuals, or will priority be given to groups??
i know im capable of making it all myself anyways cause i have done textiles and patterncutting courses anyways, so im sure with the odd tutorial i could make the collection well!!

Musicmad100, we may have to supply our own materials, however the chance to show at london fashion week and have mentoring from the fashion industry experts is a dream and an incredible chance to have.
For me and other fashion fanatics this opportunity to show case our creativity is just unimaginable.

woaah guyss,, chill! i think everybody has put alot of effort into the competition. and where does it even say that you have to buy your own materials??? and big deaal-- the winners still get the oppatunitu of presenting their designs at fashion week!

I agree with u and roomi completely. If i win i wana make friends with all the other designers. I mean just think about how many oppurturnities showing a collection at fashion weeek can offer.

ha sorry bout the repeated comments above guys! evry time i clicked post comment it said error so i thought it wasnt published and i gave up! ooops!!
And it clearly says in the instructions that we have to make our own collection to show at LFW. thats the whole point of the competition!! And am sure the winners will get help as to wheres best (and cheapest) for good quality fabric etc.

yeah i emailed mine last thursday i think and i also uploaded a few images but they havent appeared on the site. i think they are meant to email you when they are up but i have no clue when thats gonna be. I wouldnt worry though so long as you entered them before the deadline then they have no excuse to not include them in the comp. i reckon they must have just had a heck of a lot to look through first cause i think they have to check out all the images to make sure they arent too rude to be associated with the Â鶹Éç!!!

Hey bryony i done mine on the medieval panel glass window painting and expanded from that idea, I used this image as my only original sourse of inspiration :) I really hope we all get confirmation soon of blas receiving our entries! :)

I did mine on old school japan. Example: rivers, cherry blossoms, samurai's, geisha's, tigers (year of the tiger), cranes, koi and i used the V&A's fan painting for inspiration. Im shocked it did all my work within a week, (i made the first deadline) and was gutted about the deadline changing, i never made copies.
Coral they would have recieved it. They recieved mine in a few days.

Does anyone know when the results are mentioned?? is it after the 25th or before hand. Just ive had my phone glued to me all day everyday (yes even in the shower) as it has my email as well as number.

meliss me too, i wouldnt worry bout it. i did email them asking when the uploaded images were going to go up but i havent had a reply yet.
redbutterflie it says on the terms and conditions that the winner will b told before 25th. im just gonna assume that if i havent heard anything after that time than i wasnt successful!! :(
and think of it this way, if ya not successful this year, theres always next year. they have done these competitions for the apst 3 years i think now!!

I wrote a letter with my contact details. I'm slightly pathetic ive registered my number+email on my blackberry just incase, and dont leave my phone alone.
Yeahh youre right, i doubt im successful, but i tried my hardest and thats all anyone can ask for. Theres always next year, or applying for a sponsorship, entering other competitions through college (internationally)

Mine were posted, in a plastic folder, and posted with Special delievery, soo i don't think they will be uploaded. Also i sent them off before the first deadline so i couldnt make any copies :/ i'm very excited about this competition, the night i found out about it i didnt sleep i was up noting down ideas.

Ok... now i'm slightly confused, what do you mean by I won't be contacted? I've read the terms and conditions but it doesn't say how we will be contacted e.g. by phone, e-mail etc, if we are successful.

No i don't think so. The uploaded pieces as far as I am aware are the entries uploaded to the site where as a high majority of people seem to have e-mailed them in or posted the :) hope that helps.
I know that you are only contacted if you win but will they phone us or e-mail us if we have won?

no they cant be, there are loads and loads of them and anyone can upload images!! Plus and i dont think we will find out til after june 25th, and then they will probably b announced on a different page with the winning designs.
Im still waiting for them to put up my designs and i uploaded them over a week ago now!!! so frustrating, i emailed them as well to see if they received my email entry and i havent heard anything back. The only thing i can presume is that they must have had bucket loads of entries!!!

I thought about it, if the deadline is 14th, and we know before 25th, they havent got time to judge. My guess is we'll know by monday.

I have e-mailed in my designs but they have not been uploaded even though I did have a confirmation e-mail and they were e-mailed in way before the original deadline so I'm not sure whether they are uploading designs that were e-mailed in. :S It would be nice if they did though so we could see more of other peoples designs. It's nice to see the different approaches people have taken :)

I think the whole thing is confusing! and I don't think they have given themsleves enough time to judge all the entries but we'll have to see. I reckon they extended the deadline because they didn't have enough entries in but now by the sounds of it they have got loads! I just can't wait till the winners are anounced so we can see their pieces :D

cool cool lookin 4ward to seeing it all!! u will have an awesome time showing it 4 sure. i was a model at the 1st your label show and it was awesome (despite the fact that it wasnt my clothes i was showing!) ha oh well.. give me 4 years and hpfully il b at graduate fashion week and startin a career/MA in design!! good times! x oh and shall we move all this convo to the message boards guys and gals?!

I don't think my entry was recieved because the file size was too big, which I didn't even realise until now :( I guess if all winners have been notified however, it doesn't matter now, so congratulations to the people that won :)
