The inspiration for my design is mainly based on the culture of Mexico. I looked at the different festivals, the colours and the patterns and key images that are associated with the country. This is what mainly influenced my design. I used very bright and impacting colours as through my research I noticed their different festive clothing were very colourful. As part of my research, O created a moodboard on Mexico. I used travel brochure images and collected different aspects of Mexico - the country itself, its culture and its people. They were all influences in designing my dress. I also researched Matthew Williamson and produced a moodboard based on his dress designs. What I noticed about hsi dress designs is that most of them have a pattern or floral design on them. They don't seem to cling on the body but hang loosely. Most of his dresses consist of very bright colours although he does have a few black numbers with slight detail in his collection.
