I am not only inspired by old and forgotten fabrics, but by the romantic, soft lace and ruffles that are in current summer collections. Lace instantly suggests the Edwardian period so I wanted to create a slightly dated yet feminine design that had a romantic feel. I think I have achieved a dated look by my use of some old, cream netting, but modernised it with hand-embroidered cream, beaded flowers. Personally, I feel the word jeans suggests 'masculinity' so I turned boyish, black jeans into a dress.
