I wanted to make a dress that was a complete contradiction to people's conceptions of a denim garment. I was determined that I wouldn't re-use any of the style aspects of a pair of jeans, to keep the dress as elegant as possible, and to try and give a new outlook to the use of denim within clothing. I used 8 pairs of haggard old jeans, sliced into strips and sewn in layers to make my evening dress. I feel I have accomplished my task of giving denim a new look, and am extremely pleased with the results.
